North London orbital routes: Golders Green - Stamford Hill 210 to Highgate Village W5 to Crouch End W7 to Finsbury Park 253 to Stamford Hill 251 extended to Stanmore and 221/251 route swaps between Mill Hill Bdy and Edgware, with the 251 extended via the 340 to Stanmore Bdy and the H12 to Stanmore station. 221 and 251 swap routes so the 251 doesn't have to do a double run that is longer than necessary Put these here because the ideas are a bit fantasy Deckers (I assume) could not fit down some of the W5s roads to Crouch End. I don't think North London would need an orbital route like that - I have suggested something a few months back for the 251 but it is very different to what you suggested Yeah I was thinking of using DD. Alternatively I could have rerouted it between Highgate and Crouch End via Archway but I feel that it could be too much of a deviation to serve Crouch End if it goes via Archway. Other alternative for a fanatical route is to extend the 210 at least as far as Manor House but as you say it's probably not necessary

Probably best not to put these in the serious topic, so here are some fanatical routes around SE London X53: Express route from Bexleyheath Shopping Centre to Victoria LOR and stops: Bexleyheath Clock Tower (L), Broadway, Brampton Road, Bostall Hill, Plumstead High Street, Plumstead Road / Plumstead Station (WM), Plumstead Road, Plumstead Road / Woolwich Public Market (Z), then following 53 to County Hall, Woolwich Arsenal Station (H), Blackheath / Royal Standard (BD), New Cross Station (WM), New Cross Gate Station (O), Elephant & Castle / New Kent Road (M), St Thomas' Hospital / County Hall (D), Parliament Square / Westminster Abbey (P), then 148 LOR to Victoria Station. 426: New route from Woolwich to Lower Sydenham, via 122 LOR to Lewisham, 185 LOR to Forest Hill, 122 LOR to Sydenham, then 194 LOR to Lower Sydenham 446: New route from Honor Oak to Wandsworth, via 363 LOR to Forest Hill Road, P12 LOR to Brockley Rise, 185 LOR to Dulwich Common, P13 LOR to Tulse Hill, A205 Christchurch Road, Elspeth Road, then 87 LOR to Wandsworth 461: New route from Brentford Commerce Road to Battersea Park Station, via High Street, A205, then 156 LOR to Battersea Park Station You're the only other person I know on this forum who lists the stops that the route goes through! Why don't others do this? Also, what are LORs? For me, it’s much easier to understand roads than a bunch of a bus stops I’ve probably never heard of before.

IMO it's better than listing each and every bus stop, which I often find hard to follow and understand especially when there are too many stops. rift has only mentioned a few major stops where it is necessary, alongside roads and LORs, which is perfectly fine. I listed the stops because these are where an express route would need to pick up and set down, on normal routes the stops aren't of much importance

In the Bexley area do you think to extend the 132 or 486 to Bexleyheath Garage to relieve the congested space at Bexleyheath shopping centre. I’ve thought that many times. My feeling is that if it were possible it would have been done long ago, which suggests that the B11 and B16 take up all the available space. Just realised didn’t the 422 used to terminate at the garage before it passed

Looks too much like the 269 at first glance, but once again this is way too hard to read to make any meaningful comment.

Some fantasy bus route ideas, in order to create a direct route between Orpington and Bexleyheath (that is more straightforward than the B14).
51 - Withdrawn between Orpington Station and Sidcup, and diverted to Queen Mary's Hospital.
229 - Re-routed to Orpington Station via route 51, and withdrawn between Thamesmead and Erith.
428 - Extended from Erith to Thamesmead via route 229, and withdrawn between Bluewater and Dartford.
These are fantasy ideas however, and are probably unlikely to happen in reality.

I don't think withdrawing the 428 from Bluewater is a good idea, TfL explored it and it was one of a very few cuts that they actually didn't proceed with.

Given this is the fantasy thread, it feels much better placed here given authorities don't want to anything radical with the roads and there is a small bus route change involved though mainly this is more infrastructure led but didn't feel it was worth a new thread entirely. Also worth noting this would only be undertaken if other traffic was in reduction which in reality it isn't so yeah, very fantasy this will be:
Brixton Road between Lambeth Town Hall & Brixton Police Station junctions will become bus & cycle only except local business access. The central reservation between Lambeth Town Hall & Brixton Station would be permanently removed (I'd do this particular action even now as it's more of a hindrance anyway). I'm humming and hoaring about a segregated cycle lane running down the middle of Brixton Road between the two junctions but this would cause issues on the narrower section after Brixton Station with parking for business vehicles so I'll leave that out for now. Brighton Terrace will now be local business access only between Bernays Grove & Brixton Road and Trinity Gardens one way section at Acre Lane will become two way as a result (Google Maps seems to think Brighton Terrace is one way but it isn't). Electric Avenue will become business access only throughout, Ferndale Road between Nursery Road & Brixton Road will become business access only, so will Brixton Station Road between Brixton Road & Popes Road and Beehive Place throughout.
Coldharbour Lane between Rushcroft Road & Lambeth Town Hall will become bus & cycle only except local business access. This section of road is quite narrow and snarls up constantly, especially since the LTN's went in as it's now one of the few options for east to west travel. Rushcroft Road will remain open as current but the entrance of Electric Lane will be blocked off by Coldharbour Lane with all access from Rushcroft Road for residents who probably come that way anyway due to the traffic.
Atlantic Road between Coldharbour Lane & Brixton Road will become bus & cycle only except local business access. Popes Road will become business access only between Atlantic Road & Brixton Station Road
A redesign of the Brixton Police Station junction would be undertaken to include a right turn for non bus traffic from Gresham Road as Brixton Road from here going northwards will be unchanged in terms of access. Currently, all traffic from Gresham Road can only go left or straight.
A redesign of the Lambeth Town Hall junction would be undertaken to include the option of the 35, 355 & P5 to no longer use the Lambeth Town Hall one way system to access Acre Lane westbound (told you something bus route related would come) as well changing the lanes for Brixton Hill northbound. The left & middle lane will be for all traffic turning left as per pre 2009, and the right lane for buses, cycles & business access only going straight & turning right.

I like the idea of a more direct Orpington to Bexleyheath route but I wouldn't fiddle with the 51 or 229 to make it happen. It might be easier to introduce a new route but maybe start it elsewhere before reaching Bexleyheath due to stand space there. It's not my are so I'll let others more knowledgeable provide more on that

Main problem is the loss of the Abbey Road/Lower Road link to Bexleyheath - the 428 is not a good replacement.

I'd also say this, like my Bexleyheath idea, is a bad idea for the route, as it pretty much dulicates route 469.

N9 - Extended from Heathrow Terminal 5 to Hatton Cross Station via route 482.
