92: withdrawn between Sudbury and St Raphael’s North. Diverted to Sudbury Town Station via Bridgewater Road and route 204 to Sudbury Town. To provide a round a corner link with Harrow Road and Sudbury Town. 332: extended from Brent Park to Greenford Broadway via route 92 to Greenford Broadway. To link Greenford with Paddington and to assist the 92. I know this is the fantasy thread, but that suggestion is the stuff of nightmares 😂 1. Greenford to Ealing Hospital section dropped altogether - really? 2. Paddington is easily and very quickly reachable from Ealing Broadway and Wembley Central Stations. Really no need for an overly long bus link. Should someone wish to endure a bus ride from Greenford to Paddington via a tour of the borough of Brent,, they could take a 92 to Brent Park and change for the 332. Might even make it in time for a hopper fare to kick in. 3. Sudbury Town Station is within very short distance of Harrow Road. Besides that, the 92 already connects passengers with Sudbury Hill Station. Same line, same frequency etc. I can’t see that Sudbury Town is crying out for the 92 to be diverted to terminate there. I know this is the fantasy thread, so perhaps I shouldn’t take these suggestions so seriously.

91: Extended to Hornsey Station, Wood Green or Turnpike Lane Station (if there is any space) to regain the LT’s and remove the roundabout and replace it with lights.

91: Extended to Hornsey Station, Wood Green or Turnpike Lane Station (if there is any space) to regain the LT’s and remove the roundabout and replace it with lights. The roundabout would not be an issue if 91 was running across it rather than using it for a U-turn. However there's no real gain to be had by converting the 91 back to LTs apart from slightly reduced stop dwell times as alighting passengers have two exits.

I absolutely agree, the 41 could definitely do with support & there's stand space at Duckett's Green. Definitely a proposal I would get behind.

428 - Extended to Abbey Wood Station, runs direct via Bronze Age Way (one new set of lay-by stops created at Crabtree Manorway N/S), Eastern Way and Harrow Manorway. Extended beyond Bluewater in 2025 non-stop to The London Resort😎
Rationale: Provide Bexley, Dartford and KCC with new links to the Elizabeth Line as per their recent lobbying (in lieu of an extension to the Lizzie Line, which isn’t happening anytime soon); Improve links for Thamesmead and Abbey Wood residents to employment, education and leisure opportunities in Crayford, Dartford, and beyond; Provide a direct, fast routing to make the service as attractive as possible vs. longer distance car travel to eliminate or reduce the final mileage driven between home and onward public transport connections once the Elizabeth Line opens.

An interesting proposal. I do recall extending Fastrack in some form to Abbey Wood has also been mooted as a possibility.

I might be going a little overboard here but would it be worth cutting the DVH loop and cutting the Bridge Road, Whitehall lane, Howbury Lane section, instead having it run the full length of Northend Road and the top part of Thames Road (leaving those sections to the 96 and 99 respectively)? I feel the current routing may be a little too slow for something like this. I'm guessing this service would use the Fastrack Busway in and out of Bluewater as well? For the London Resort link, I suspect most people from London going there by bus will be coming from Bexleyheath, Orpington and Bromley so I'd probably prioritise those areas. Arriva could extend their 477 from Bluewater, and possibly a new route from Bexleyheath.

This is a really long proposal but here goes (a North Londoner's take on what should be improved): Route 31: Increased to x8 frequency. Route 67: Withdrawn Route 102: Withdrawn between Muswell Hill & Brent Cross for reliability reasons. 24 hour status removed. Route 125: Extended from Colindale Station to Colindale Superstores via service 303. This would create new local links in the Colindale area, and would link Finchley & Hendon into ASDA, of which could be of demand. Diverted at Green Dragon Lane to Edmonton Green via services 329 & W8. This would link in Grange Park to Edmonton Green, whilst providing cross North London links. Route 144: Extended from Muswell Hill to Golders Green Station via old route 102. Numbers could potentially switch with route 102 if needed. Converted to 24 hour operation. This would link Turnpike Lane, Wood Green & Hornsey to East Finchley, Henlys Corner & Golders Green. NOT sure on what would replace the GG to Brent X section. Route 192: Withdrawn between Edmonton Green & Tottenham Hale and diverted to Picketts Lock via current service W8. Could potentially look at adjusting frequency if needs must. Route 234: Extended from Highgate Wood to Finchley Road, O2 Centre via services 210 to Whitestone Pond & Route 268 to Finchley Road, O2 Centre. This would operate at a frequency of every 12 minutes and would be adequate in terms of demand. Would link the Swiss Cottage, Hampstead, Royal Free & Highgate Village areas into North London. This would be a great example of what could be considered a "trunk route". No changes to frequency. Route 240: Extended from Golders Green Station to Hampstead Heath. No changes to frequency. This would link in the Royal Free to Hendon, Edgware, Mill Hill & Millbrook Park. This section is arguably the busiest on the 268 (Golders Green to Hampstead High Street) so would provide extra capacity whilst retaining many links. Could potentially be diverted via Deansbrook Road to serve Edgware Community Hospital, however as has been mentioned by ian there is clearly school demand along Daws Lane & Hale Lane for Mill Hill, so I think I would keep that section the same but would be happy to review it. This would overbus the ECH to Edgware corridor as well. Route 251: Extended from Arnos Grove to Palmers Green Station via Bowes Road, Wilmer Way, Powys Lane, Broomfield Lane & Green Lanes. This would help link the Brunswick Park/Arnos Grove area into Palmers Green High Street, of which could be of demand. Could stand on Lodge Drive. Could potentially look at increasing frequency of the service as the service is well over capacity due to the popularity it has received in recent years. Route 263: Diverted to Dalston Junction via Route 30. No changes to frequency. This would link Holloway into Dalston & Mildmay Park, of which isn't currently possible. Route 268: Discontinued. Route 299: Withdrawn between Southgate Station & Cockfosters. Extended from Muswell Hill to Mill Hill Broadway via service 653 to Finchley Central, 382 to Mill Hill East, Devonshire Road, Bunns Lane & The Broadway. No change to frequency. This would help support the 143, provide a service on an unserved part of East End Road, unserved part of Devonshire Road & Bunns Lane, provide a fast across North London link, continue linking Bounds Green into East Finchley & create new links from Southgate, Bounds Green & Muswell Hill to Finchley Central, East End Road, Mill Hill East, Mill Hill Broadway & the Devonshire Road area. Route 329: Extended from Turnpike Lane Station to Stoke Newington, Manse Road via Route 67. Stand on Manse Road used for the service in order to retain High Street links. Would link in Palmers Green/Winchmore Hill into Stoke Newington/St Ann's Hospital/Stamford Hill. Would reduce bus movements along Wood Green High Road. Route 340: Extended from Edgware Station to High Barnet, Dollis Valley via service 384 to Stirling Corner & service 107 to High Barnet & service 307 to Dollis Valley Estate. Would link Barnet into Harrow, Canons Park, Wealdstone, Harrow Weald. I would hope this would be a well used, trunk orbital route across North London. No changes to current frequency. Route 349: Extended from Stamford Hill to Islington Angel via service 476. Revised to run at an 8bph frequency in order to increase capacity along the busy Ponders End to Edmonton Green section of the route and maintain some capacity lost from the 476 down through Tottenham, however this could be also argued that the 329 would provide slightly more because of its higher frequency between Stamford Hill & Stoke Newington. Route 382: Withdrawn between Finchley Central & Millbrook Park. Revised to stand on Charville Way. Route 384: Revised to run between Barnet, Quinta Drive & Cockfosters as mainly before, but then extended to Southgate Green via current bus route 299. No changes made to frequency. This would, though indirect, create a new link between Barnet & Southgate. Route 393: Few extra peak time journeys added. This would help support the overcrowding the route faces during peak hours. Diverted from Chalk Farm Station to Camden Town to link local estates into Camden Town, a major leisure & work hub. Chalk Farm is a useless terminus as it misses out a major objective of Camden Town. Route 456: Extended from Crews Hill, Golf Ride to Cuffley Station via Cattlegate Road, Northaw Road East & Station Road. This would link Cuffley & South Cuffley into Enfield Town Centre of which could be of demand (and can be done on the current schedule so there would be no PVR increase needed) and would finally have a bus route serve Crews Hill Station. Route 476: Withdrawn Route C11: Increased to an x8 frequency. Route W8: Diverted to Walthamstow Central from Edmonton Green via service 192 to Tottenham Hale & service 230 to Walthamstow Central. This would provide new links from Walthamstow, Tottenham Hale & Meridian Water to Chase Farm Hospital, Gordon Hill & Winchmore Hill. This would provide a higher frequency between Edmonton Green & Tottenham and hopefully address capacity issues on the 192 in a better way. Before anybody says so, yes I do know money doesn't grow on trees Hopefully I can get some thoughts on this! LondonNorthern

Some comments: 340/384: Surely the 384 issue is pretty much 'settled' as the TfL review has made clear. I really can't see the 384 reverting to what it was in the current climate. Your permutation also breaks links that have just been specifically established e.g. Edgware and Mill Hill to the JCSS school in Barnet. I think it probably time to stop picking at this particular 'scab'. 299: not very keen I'm afraid, seems totally the wrong route for Finchley Central to Mill Hill via Millbrook Park. Also not sure another route can terminate at MHB without some tinkering to the bus station area layout. 240: extension to Hampstead possibly might be good, though for obvious demographic reasons previously stated am totally against running via Deansbrook Road. 251: Possibly, though I think any extension or diversion aimed at increasing passenger numbers would necessitate either frequency improvement (is that likely right now?) or larger buses. 125: I rather like that one, though I recall others had some reservations. 456: Nice but surely vanishingly unlikely in current climate?

Definitely fantasy, but it would be nice for there to be an orbital South East London X route...
X25 (for the same historic reason as X26, though much of the route very different from the old 725).
Only stopping at following places:
West Croydon bus station East Croydon railway station West Wickham town centre Locksbottom (Princess Royal University Hospital) Orpington railway station Orpington War Memorial St Paul’s Cray (Springvale Way or Station Approach) Bexley Library Crayford Bridge Dartford railway station

This would provide a higher frequency between Edmonton Green & Tottenham and hopefully address capacity issues on the 192 in a better way. Before anybody says so, yes I do know money doesn't grow on trees Hopefully I can get some thoughts on this! LondonNorthern The 384 has also sadly become very unreliable now especially in the late afternoon, with 40 minute gaps being common due to traffic on the A1, so I would welcome this and obviously a return to the old routing. To avoid the A1, Hendon Wood Lane (with a new bus gate) and Marsh Lane could also be used, which would bring more roads closer to a bus. For Edgware there is still the quicker 614, which TfL should integrate again between Barnet and Edgware to allow it to accept TfL fares - I am worried about losing the 614 in Barnet now because of the 384 extension, with the 614 useful links especially to Hatfield Galleria and the university. TfL may consider the 384 matter 'settled' but people in Barnet don't, especially as the 'review' didn't even discuss the themes from the extensive feedback people sent in. It will come up again for sure at some point because it was so obviously unjust to leave people so far from a bus service as well as removing it from the station, Aldi, etc. I like the idea of Barnet link to Southgate. Extending the 340 is a good idea I think. No more reason to have Cockfosters to Edgware than Harrow to Barnet as an orbital really. Would be worried about Dollis Valley losing the 326 though. What about extending the 340 to Western Way so those roads finally get a regular bus service? Only issue is where to terminate it because Western Way is only a hesitation point and people get on end off at different points round the loop. But there are other buses like the 288 and the R7 that let people stay on at the terminus so this could be done in this case, and the frequency would obviously be a lot better than the current 389. There would be multiple stops in High Barnet for people coming from New Barnet, Cockfosters, JCoSS etc to change. Also what about the 340 going via Barnet Gate Lane then turning into Chesterfield Road and going via the Hospital, Church and station back down to Underhill? That way you bring in houses at the western end of Mays Lane that are currently quite remote. Although this breaks the link from Quinta Drive to Edgware. Diverting the 240 would restore the Deansbrook Road to Edgware link so that would be a positive of it. Yes maybe Edgware High Street is overbussed but then so is The Hale now. The other broken link is Deans Lane to Burnt Oak, but I don't know what would solve that. I suppose you could have nothing replace the 102 between Golders Green and Brent Cross, because the separate sections are covered by the 189 and the 226, although I thought this thread is usually optimistic than that :-) I really like the 234 extension and a direct bus from Barnet, Muswell Hill and Highgate to Hampstead and near the Royal Free would be neat. More people are being referred between Barnet Hospital and the Royal Free now they have become part of the same trust. The only thing I can see being an issue is people in Belsize Village not wanting to lose a direct bus to Golders Green and Golders Hill Park The 240 extended to Hampstead Heath would be good though.

Thank you for comments I do appreciate them.
The 102 would need a replacement because of demand.
The 340 suggestion wouldn't work. There is no way Barnet Gate Lane could take a service (far too narrow) & I think the 340 should go the direct way via Barnet Hospital & the High Street. And I heavily doubt there would be enough demand to suffice. Also I wouldn't terminate it on Western Way. That is far too narrow, it can't take DDs and I think a 12 minute frequency is quite generous. Perhaps if Western Way required a more daily service perhaps an idea could be conjured up with the 399 (perhaps as some form of merger) to run between Barnet Western Way & Chase Farm Hospital.
Dollis Valley wouldn't lose the 326. That would continue serving D Valley and linking it into New Barnet & The Spires.
Is Hale Lane that overbussed? Remember the 221/240 are busy services in the peak time and their direct nature between Mill Hill Broadway & Edgware should be kept IMO, I suggested my 299 idea to continue on from Mill Hill Broadway to Edgware via Deansbrook Road which be more sufficient of demand.
There will be a group of people admittedly in the Belsize Park area who might want to continue onto GG, but from what I can tell in regards to the 268s loadings the bus normally empties out around Hampstead Heath and more local journies are made to the O2 Centre from Hampstead/Royal Free. Had it not have been for the 168 being merged with the 1 that could've replaced it to Golders Green, and perhaps if something like this took places when the 13/82/113/139/189 changes took place 5 years ago it might have softened the blow for what was quite a controversial politically change.
