Reshuffling of buses in Bromley area: 358 split in two: one service between Bromley Common/ The Crown and Crystal Palace, the other between Bromley North and Orpington Station which will be converted to double decker operation 162 doesn’t serve Edgebury Estate and follows shorter 160 route between new eltham and eltham high street and converted to double decker New bus route between Eltham Station and Chislehurst War Memorial, serving Chislehurst Town Centre, Edgebury Estate and Greenwich University 138 scrapped (not needed if 162 buses are double decker) 269 extended to Bromley Bus Garage/ Princess Royal Hospital on Bromley Common. Bus will serve Bromley South instead of Bromley North I think TB/PRU is a bit too far but the 269 should at least use the current 126 stand to serve the town centre and avoid the 162 getting overloaded towards Chislehurst.

It’s all well and good saying people can walk to the other bus stops but for some a walk like that isn’t possible and having the 138 going around the estate in Coney Hall is a lifeline. If it’s deemed surplus to requirements on Westmoreland Road then I would suggest having the 138 take over the 246 routing through Hayesford Park (thereby giving a more even 10 minute service through the estate with the 352) and route the 246 along the full length of Mead Way

As you say, 269 needs to serve the town centre and south station better than present. I can see Bromley South becoming a major interchange for bus passengers, with Bromley South having fast trains to London and Kent. A link from Bexley ought to serve this new hub. Terminating at the 126 stand is fine, the only issue is space on that stand

What I’m about to propose really is fantasy and would never happen but here goes:
1: Withdraw the 197 entirely
2: Cut the 176 back from Tottenham Court Road to Elephant & Castle, then extend it from Penge to South Croydon, replacing the 197
3: Extend the 12 to Penge to aid the 176 and to keep Penge and Sydenham connected to the West End

Let’s have some fun and imagine that TfL felt the inclination to shove a load more services across the London border. If someone fancies doing the north side, feel free, but south of the river, going clockwise…
233 : Extended from Swanley to West Kingsdown 442 : a new route from Bromley to Sevenoaks via the former 402. 407/443 : Extended from Caterham to Godstone Green 404 : Extended down the hill from Caterham on the Hill to Caterham 420 : TfL-ised, on its current Sutton to Reigate, Redhill and Whitebushes trajectory 467 : Extended to Hampton Court Station via the Kingston by-pass, and enhanced to a general 30 minute frequency. K3 : Extended to Cobham via current 715, then on to Sainsbury’s via current 408. 411 : Extended to Walton - double run via Central Avenue and then the quick way into Walton via Walton Road and Terrace Road.
And before anyone rips these apart - they are in the fantasy thread for a reason - it’s a bit of fun that is in no way indicative of what is ever likely to happen in real life!

Sad that these are considered fantasy but: U1 extended to Slough via Thorney 427 extended to Amersham via Chalfont St Peter U9 extended to Rickmansworth via Hill End H13 extended from Northwood to Chesham 182 extended to Watford via Oxhey 324 extended to Radlett Via Esltree & Borehamwood station 307 extended to South Mimms via Galley Lane 34 extended to Arkley Hotel via Wood Street X13 Luton/St Albans/Potters Bar Furzfield all stops to Barnet Everyman then limited stop to Golders Green, Selfridges, Victoria/Aldwych 384 restored to former routing plus Edgware extension but via Hendon Wood Lane and Marsh Lane. Extended to Chase Farm/Enfield via Oakwood. 399 extended to Enfield via Lancaster Ave, Ferny Hill and Chase Farm 456 extended to Goff's Oak via Cuffley and Crews Hill 310 extended back to Enfield 215 extended to Harlow via Sewardstone and Waltham Abbey 167 extended to Harlow via Abridge, Theydon Bois, Epping and North Weald 375 extended to Ongar 374 extended to Baslidon 372 extended to Tilbury

442 : a new route from Bromley to Sevenoaks via the former 402. I actually think this could do very well and selfishly it’s a route I’d love to drive I’d actually quite like to drive a Westerham to Orpington route via Brasted, Sundridge, Riverhead, Dunton Green, Polhill, Badgers Mount and Chelsfield Village And I wonder if there’s scope to extend the 464 from Tatsfield over the 594/595 (can’t remember which!) to Westerham

Last time I used the 384 which was about a year or so ago now the A1 was absolutely clogged full of traffic due to roadworks at Apex Corner and I did wonder how much quicker it would've been to have had a route go down those two roads. While the route would likely not be much help to those living on Hendon Wood Lane due to lack of places to actually stop, bringing a daytime bus route to Marsh Lane (currently only served by the 605) would be a good idea and it would overall improve connectivity between Mill Hill School/Belmont and Mill Hill County and Barnet.

Linking Harefield to the tube at Rickmansworth through a tfl bus route would be better than Northwood for those wanting destinations further out of London. It also helps link the areas surrounding to Harefield Hospital I'll add a few more: 81 extended to Windsor via the A4, A355, Arthur Road 81 extended to Maidenhead via the A4 427 extended to Slough via Iver Heath 427 extended to High Wycombe via Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield 258 extended to Abbots Langley via Leavesden 142 extended to Kings Langley via Hempstead Road, A41 to M25, A4251

You could probably make a bus gate at the top and possibly site a couple of stops on verges. They have gradually made the 384 vehicles bigger over time though. Yes the A1 has made the route so unreliable, it's a real shame, as well as the new routing being completely ghostly outside school times east of the Everyman. The only good thing is access to Stirling Corner Morrisson's but it's still pretty inaccesible.

Some more South London based fantasy routes
92 extended to Rainham, via Gravesend, Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham
246 extended to Edenbridge via Hosey Hill and Crockam Hill. 320 extended to Sevenoaks via Westerham and Brasted 464 extended to Hurst Green via Titsey and Oxted
119 extended to Gatwick Airport, via A23 until Horley then express to Gatwick on the M23 466 extended to Godstone Village

It's the closest a tfl bus route goes to Gatwick. Not sure if you meant the 492 for your first proposal, unless you advocate a massive extension from Ealing Hospital to Rainham

I remember having a ride on it (as well as doing the old 402 before it was cut back) and both times, there were decent loads, especially on the 431 which was pretty busy
