Sadiq Khan: 'I will invest in bus services, Superloop and bus lanes' Sadiq Khan re-elected: Cuts to the 110 with no hesitation. I don't think anyone is happy to see the cut, myself included, but it is worth noting that: A - there are quite a number of other small-scale improvements coming to routes in inner and outer London, 253/254 for instance getting better Sunday daytime frequency etc as did the 306 recently. I know it's small but these things do add up to the overall strength of the network and gently expanding it to cater for every last punter. B - even in the halcyon days of Ken Livingstone as Mayor where there was a huge increase in bus mileage and usage, some routes got trimmed back at times. I think the picture is overall, still positive for buses in London despite a few challenges and I think in 4 years time there will be quite a lot of things that are improved on today - more express buses, more electric buses etc Even during the Ken years routes were withdrawn for efficency like the 87 and 374. I certainly don't rule out an organic rationalisation if demand has dropped on certain corridors.

Cut in frequency on route 110 from x15mins to x20mins Mon-Sat daytime. Very disappointing given the decent loadings on the relatively new Whitton to Richmond link. Changes to buses from Saturday 1 June 2024 The following timetable changes will take place from Saturday 1 June A temporary timetable will be introduced on route 26 which will widen the frequency of the service to a bus every 11 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays and to every 13 minutes during the evening and all day on Sundays. This temporary timetable will give buses more time to complete journeys during the displacement of traffic during the northbound closure of Farringdon Street at Ludgate Circus. A temporary timetable will be introduced on route 32 which will widen the frequency of the service to a bus every 9 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays and every 13 minutes during the evening and all day on Sundays. This temporary timetable will give buses more time to complete journeys during HS2 works on Kilburn High Road. Route 110 will have a new timetable on all days of the week with journey times revised to better reflect current traffic levels. Buses will now run every 20 minutes during both the daytime and evening on all days of the week. Route 253 will have a new timetable on all days of the week with journey times revised to better reflect current traffic levels. A shame to see the 110 cut in frequnecy. I personally think this is a route that needs to be split back in 2, or potentially even 3 at a push similar to the old structure. 110 back to West Mids to Hounslow, H22 returned to Hounslow, and a 391 recreated in some form - or perhaps the 190 rerouted via the 391 routing with the 190 routing via Chiswick Bridge being the subject of another route. I’m remaining hopeful that currently mysterious new route 310 could be the answer where the split happens and that the lowering the frequency of route 110 is the start of that happening. A future truncated route 110 which would operate from Twickenham Station to Hounslow Bus Station, a x20 min frequency would perfectly match demand along the route. Personally if there’s a Richmond consultation coming, I hope the changes include: Route 110 Twickenham Station to Hounslow Bus Station, frequency of route 110 maintained at x20 mins Route 190 rerouted to serve Kew Gardens station, Kew Bridge, Gunnersbury Station and Chiswick High Road, converted to double deck operation New route 310 Hammersmith Bus Station to Whitton - I think it is really important that TFL in any event of changes that they need to maintain the new Whitton to Richmond link, route 310 would swap with route 190 between Richmond and Stamford Brook bus garage, with the route going via Chiswick Bridge, the frequency of route 310 would be x15 mins. Route 969 - withdrawn due to changes associated with new route 310.

I don’t agree with cutting busy single decker routes like the 110 but increasing already very frequent routes like the 253 and 254 which seems a bit of a kick in the teeth to those in west London. The 253 and 254 have had frequency reductions in recent years though, this is just putting some Sunday journeys back in to meet current demand (travel on Sundays generally has recovered better than on weekdays).

The new six year contract on route 110 only started on 27th April 2024 so would be unusual for the contract to be varied so soon. I remember it was initially suggested to send the 110 was to be sent over the 419’s routing instead had Hammersmith Bridge not shut which would have been much better. Swapping its route with the 190 would make it much more direct, though it is relatively common for there to be traffic at the Hogarth Roundabout.

The new six year contract on route 110 only started on 27th April 2024 so would be unusual for the contract to be varied so soon. Unless RATP are more privy to any changes held back due to the election and accepted the bid as TBC PVR and that changes might happen.

We’ve had cut after cut with just the odd frequency increase on the 35 (which has seen the service become very up and down at the southern end) and a welcome boost for the 432. The 45 is potentially going to disappear, our direct links to Liverpool Street & Euston have gone in exchange for unwarranted links to St Paul’s & St Bart’s, a hospital that has little use for Sputh Londoners. Meanwhile, traffic is getting worse due to LTN’s and 20mph everywhere alongside constant regulation of services so excuse me if I’m not feeling rather optimistic about where buses are heading, particularly where I live

Route 17 will be diverted towards Archway after bus stop F at City Thameslink Station via Fleet Street, Fetter Lane and New Fetter Lane to Holborn Circus re-joining normal route at bus stop H on Holborn. No change towards London Bridge.
Route 25 will be curtailed to St Paul's Station from Ilford. Buses will set down at bus stop SQ and pick up from bus stop ST on Newgate Street. The stops at City Thameslink Station will not be served.
Route 40 will be diverted towards Clerkenwell Green after bus stop J at Blackfriars Station via Fleet Street, Fetter Lane, New Fetter Lane, Holborn Circus and Charterhouse Street to Farringdon Road re-joining normal route at bus stop A at Farringdon Station. No change towards Dulwich.
Routes 63 & N63 will be diverted towards King's Cross after bus stop J at Blackfriars Station via Fleet Street, Fetter Lane, New Fetter Lane, Holborn Circus and Charterhouse Street to Farringdon Road re-joining normal route at bus stop A at Farringdon Station. No change towards Honor Oak.
