Interesting news from LOTS this week:
A surprise arrival at Go-Ahead's New Cross garage on Thursday was IE21. This is the first of 28 Irizar ie-tram buses for the North Kent Fastrack routes that are being taken over from Arriva in November. The bus was delivered by low-loader and has a grey and red livery. Despite this, current plans suggest that the routes will initially be operated by MEC-class Citaro buses released from routes 108 and 358.
3) Metroline has ordered 108 new buses (of 3 types) for routes 4, 90, 98, 153, E2 and E8. It has also allocated fleet numbers to the 102 buses that are already on order, taking the number series up to 3030. Full details will be in TLB720.
4) The ADL electric buses ordered by Stagecoach London recently are now known to be for routes B14 and W12 (24 x E100EV) and SL3 (17 x E400EV).
So the Stagecoach orders are confirmed to be for the B14/SL3/W12, while some pending order for Metroline have been confirmed. I'm thinking BZLs for the 98, BYDs for 4 and 153 and Electroliners for 90/E2/E8 Also interesting that the Kent Fastrack will be using MECs from the 108/358.I thought the 108 couldn't convert yet.

Will be interesting to see what Metroline have ordered, and particularly whether or not they have chosen to standardise on types at certain garages. For example if the 153 gets BELs for a common fleet with the 46, or something else like Kites or BZLs. I thought the E2 and E8 had already been confirmed for Streetdecks, so could end up being something else now. I would guess WDEs for the 90 and BDEs for the 4 for standardisation, but could be different - and if the 4 gets BDEs, could it maybe use the ex-17 examples as part of the allocation? And with Metroline having gone back to BDEs for some of their last order, I wonder if they might be interested in the integral E400EV? Might not be available in time for some of the routes mentioned here, but perhaps for the 266 or U3/U4?

Is it 'ordinary' for commercial buses at GAL to be numbered 'in sequence' with London spec ones -- especially considering these are brand new too and technically not simply transferred over from the TfL fleet?

How else should they number them? Why should they confuse things by creating a different sequence if they are identical buses but used for commercial services? Itβs still part of the GAL fleet, just not for use on TfL services. Itβs not just GAL that has a single sequence for their fleet. The other operators do the same as well

It has happened before, E281-285 were purchased new by GAL for the commerical fleet and followed on from where the sequence ended at E280.

Yep, as well as the new commercial E's they brought following on from the TfL ones, any old stock that passes into the commercial fleet keeps it's old fleet number - some of the early E's currently populate the fleet as does some SE's like the one at NP covering on the 299.
