Quite a short time between the 105 having its temporary timetable withdrawn, and a new one being put in place! Could this be a record?

Thanks evergreenadam and lundnah. I could not find 310 update on the page but you added it in. I was expecting a 257 update but none. That either means it will quietly go back to WC with no changes to timetable which would make no sense or it will not return any time soon which will be equally farcical.

It's good to see some weekend frequency increases (66, 243, 314) in amongst the changes.
Also there's been a lot of bellyaching about the Wanstead route changes, but some passengers will enjoy frequency increases especially over the Walthamstow-Whipps Cross section of the W12. Even former 549 passengers benefit from an improved regular hourly service operating from 06.00 to 24.00, seven days a week.

At last 314 will become every 20 minutes all day Sunday which is a bonus for Elmstead Wood/Hayes/Addington people who live there nearby. Rather than waiting for bus too long if miss it.

Sorry but the changes are pretty awful even by TfL standards! Yes some get frequency increases those getting a decrease are probably more inconvenient than the old 549 that goes back to hourly. These changes are like robbing Peter to pay Paul. I will risk eating humble pie but these changes are going to backfire especially the bus length choices and capacity.

Personally, I don’t think they do adequate research when it comes to changes like this. I think it’s more a case of only being concerned with the finances and what can be saved which is a rather odd focus for a transport provider. The reasons why things don’t backfire as often isn’t necessarily because the change is successful but because people use alternative means, mainly non bus ones so all TfL is doing is accelerating decline and reducing revenue coming in

Minor changes to times: 90, 94, 289 Times revised to better reflect traffic levels: 18, 148, 218, 383, SL7 Temporary timetable introduced (A40 Westway closure): 13, 23, 27, 49, 70, 72, 211, 220, 267, 272, 283, 295, 306, 414, 452, C1, C3 Temporary timetable introduced (Bow Roundabout works): 25, 205, 276, 277, 425, D8 Temporary timetable introduced (King William St closure): 43, 100, 153 Rerouted: 309 (along Abbott Road) New route: 310 (starts 1 September)
The 148 is probably best categorised as a cut as the weekday and Saturday frequencies goes down to every 12 from every 10. I'd also never previously noticed the oddity of the weekend night service being less frequent than the weekday night service which both remain unchanged.
The W7 is also an off-peak increase and peak decrease and Sat/Sun early increase which on the whole is probably an overall increase in trips per week (?).

Rather a shame that the 148 is being reduced in frequency as it seems well used apart from the Shepherds Bush to White City Bus Station section. The lower night frequency at weekends is indeed odd.

Something that's slipped through quietly - the weekend night service on the W7 is officially withdrawn from today's timetable change, having been suspended since April 2020.

Source: Bus News Flash, 16th August 2024 (via LondonsTransport Google Group)You’d have thought that would have been a successful weekend night service given that Finsbury Park has two weekend night tube lines and that the daytime W7 is such a big feeder to the tube.
