I think another issue with the LTs that makes them worse is that the engine insulation just isn't good enough, when I put my stuff in the CAs locker I have to leave my water on the saloon floor otherwise it just condenses in there. I concur. My iPad & phone got yellow screen blots after leaving it in the locker. Not to mention the times I've burnt myself on the door... I'm tempted to try out my popcorn experiment if this heat keeps up! On the subject of hot buses, some advice to members during this warm weather: AVOID the route 38 if you can. That lock buckle yes, I've done that before Yeeeaaouuuchh! The popcorn sounds like a good idea

Surely TfL should invest in some sort of small piece of hand held machinery that can blast buses with cold air, when the buses are terminated at key stations. A bit like those leave blowers, but just chuck some ice in there. It is as much about getting the hot air out of buses. I was on an empty 158 Trident, and it was barely bearable. I did not want to imagine it packed. By the way, LT's get some deserved stick but the tridents have to be up there as buses to avoid in hot weather.
Most annoying announcement of all:
Due to the hot weather it is advisable to carry water with you.
Im sure in some hot part of the world when they get 3 days of below 20 degree weather they have a similar announcement: 'In this cold weather remember to carry a jumper with you'

Im sure in some hot part of the world when they get 3 days of below 20 degree weather they have a similar announcement: 'In this cold weather remember to carry a jumper with you' Having been to HK in Winter several times I find 12-15 degrees perfectly comfortable because we're used to it being much much colder in the UK. However the locals will be seen wrapped up in fur coats, hats and scarves. There are admonishments for people to be considerate to each other on public transport when wearing bulky winter clothing. I am sure they think us Europeans to be the mad ones wandering round in short sleeve shirts on their cold winter days. Apparently last winter it got to about 3 degress in HK which is almost unheard of. Goodness knows what the locals made of those temperatures - seems they all decided to go and see what "cold" and "frost" was like. www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/health-environment/article/1904384/polar-vortex-hits-hong-kong-record-low

It sure does. So if TFL say that all the existing routemasters should have opening windows fitted by September. Can we presume from October new routemasters being delivered will have opening windows fitted? or will TFL spend more public money getting the windows converted at a later date.

Sorry to bring up this controversial thread. Based on 'customer feedback' ,is there a programme for the window fitting? I ask because we're less than a week away from September and 38/73/453(?) LTs have no orifices.

Been on several LTs in the recent hot weather and all pleasantly cool on top deck, and acceptable on lower. Also saw an opening-window-fitted bus on 168, so they've reached W. Not sure what remains not to like, from the passenger point of view.

I expect the "by September" deadline really means by the end of September so I was not expecting a declaration of success in a few days time. However from the photos I keep seeing of NB4Ls there are still far more without opening windows than with which suggests there's not much time to do an awful lot of work. Anyone got a feel for how many routes or garages are fully converted to open windowed NB4Ls?

From my observations, I've seen/travelled in windowed vehicles on the 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 24, 55, 59, 68, 88, 91, 137, 148, 149, 159, 168, & 390.

That's been very much my experience too during the recent hot spell, and yes what will there be left to moan about when opening windows are fitted?
