Wouldn’t that run into reliability issues resulting in the southern end likely having buses turned short at Chislehurst and rendering the extension a bit of a damp squib? Not local but the only other thing I'd suggest about the 161 going to Orpington is to cut back to Woolwich and either leave the rest of the route to the 180 and 472 or have another route extended to North Greenwich as others have said, however I'm sure that the 51 would be quicker end to end as opposed to a 161 extension. A bit of a fantasy idea but would it be good to split the 61? One route would operate from Locksbottom to Eltham station via the current 61 and the 161. Hospital links would be retained but Stand space at Eltham could be an issue. The other route would operate from Bromley to Ramsden Estate and the R9 withdrawn. The R9 is a circular service. I would not extend any other route to Ramsden Estate otherwise it will require a stand. 61 is fine as it is the frequency matches demand. I would not remove the 161 from North Greenwich certainly does help out when there are crowds of people who want to go to Woolwich from North Greenwich.

The 161 is probably too frequent to take over the 61 between Chislehurst and Orpington. Maybe the 61 and 353 could be swapped between Orpington and Ramsden Estate/Chislehurst? This would provide a new link between Bromley and the Ramsden Estate and would not break any important links.

The 161 could be reduced to x12mins if it were Eltham to Orpington and possibly onto Green Street Green with the 126 extended to Woolwich or North Greenwich with double deckers. Swapping the 61 and 353 has been suggested before and isn't a bad suggestion but there would still be two routes terminating at Chislehurst whereas a through service from Orpington to Eltham would be far more beneficial. Another option would be to extend the 61 back to Eltham via New Eltham, extend the 161 to Sidcup Station and withdraw the 160 between Eltham and Sidcup.

Does anyone know or is aware on what's happening on the proposed changes to the U1, U2 and U7 I heard last year? Last I heard around the year before there was meant to be a consultation soon, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore?

I believe those ideas have now been dropped. Good! I live in the area and I'm not a fan of those changes. I would've found it quite useful to see current U7 users benefit from doubling in frequency whilst additional capacity implemented south to West Drayton. Whilst yes, those in Ruislip and Ickenham could've ended up losing their links to West Drayton as one of the drawbacks.

The U7 frequency increase being shelved is a shame, even if it was left as is frequency wise but permanently double decked would be better than nothing

Have the individual route ridership figures for 2022/23 come out? If not, is there a rough time at which they're released?

September time I think I'd be interested to see them as I saw an article the other day which said tube and train usage had grown since last year, DLR had grown aswell despite the Liz line its said but bus usedgae was still considered lower then they would like.

I like the 488 idea of running through the area north east of the Tesco before terminating at the store, not sure about how neccesary running to Leven Road is when it will be closer to the 309's new amended routing than present. The new route option cutting through the West Ham development would be an interesting idea too. Not keen on the 205 or D8 options.

I think the 488 proposals are rather interesting, as is the 300 extension. I agree that the 205 is too long to extend but the D8 being rerouted I think could work well, makes journey times faster for those travelling to Stratford/Canary Wharf as well.
