356 Mon-Sat to 15min
202 Mon-Sat to 6-8min
124 Mon-Sat to 6min
197 Sunday to 12-15min
Why would route 124 need to increased to a frequency like that with those small buses? It traverses some narrow streets and tight corners between Torridon Road and Grove Park hence the small buses, yet is always busy. I occasionally use it in the Catford area and can't help but feel that it suffers terribly from selective inadequacy. The Catford stations generate regular spikes of demand and the 124 often takes the hammering when a lot of people are going to Sangley Road or Grove Park. Pity the 136 and even 160 aren't quite in the immediate catchment of the stations and the 181 to Grove Park leaves from the other side of the road. The 322 is another vehicle size constrained route which runs at high frequency, but for different reasons.

Route 251 desperately needs a peak-time boost or peak-time extras on an urgent basis - at some stops it is essentially impossible to get on or only by luck and squeezing in by the driver I guess there are other alternative courses of action, maybe for another thread... The capacity problems were raised by Caroline Pidgeon in a question to the Mayor a few months ago. Unfortunately the response from TfL wasn't hugely encouraging.

What bus routes would you increase or decrease the frequency of to more suit capacity and to what to? Please note, you must not make changes to the route. I would: 20: Reduced from every 15 mins to every 20 mins Monday to Saturday 58: Increased from every 10 mins to every 8 mins Monday to Saturday and from every 15 mins to every 12 mins Sundays and evenings. 86: Increased from every 10 mins to every 8 mins on Sundays 97: Increased from every 8 mins to every 6 mins Monday to Saturday and from every 12-15 mins to every 10 mins Sundays and evenings. 123: Increased from every 11 mins to every 8 mins Monday to Saturday and from every 15 mins to every 12 mins Sundays and evenings. 158: Increased from every 10 mins to every 8 mins Monday to Saturdays and from every 15 mins to every 12 mins during evenings. Sunday frequency remains the same. 208: Increased from every 12 mins to every 10 mins Monday to Saturday and from every 15 mins to every 12 mins Sundays and evenings. 241: Reduced from every 10 mins to every 12 mins during peak times and Saturday mornings and every 12 mins to every 15 mins during Weekday shopping hours. Times not mentioned to remain the same. 275: Increased from every 12 mins to every 10 mins Monday to Saturday and from every 20 mins to every 15 mins Sundays and evenings. W16: Increased from every 12 mins to every 10 mins Monday to Saturday and from every 20 mins to every 15 mins Sundays and evenings. Good topic! Can this include PVR increases? My ideas are: 434: Increased from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes on all days (seems to run by the same timetable even on a Sunday) and a PVR increase of +1 466: Increased from every 7-12 minutes to every 5-7 minutes. 403: Increased to every 5-7 minutes and a PVR increase of +5 434 to every 15 minutes? Really?

The 434 would probably move up to 20 minutes rather than 15 if needed - there would have to be substantial demand for it to double from 2 buses per hour to 4 which I'd say there isn't the demand for it. The 466 is currently every 10 minutes and personally, I think that's pretty spot on from observations.

279 increased to every 5 minutes MS daytime, 4-5 peaks, 7-8 Sundays. Evening frequency remains at every 10 minutes from around 2200, 8 before. To relieve considerable pressure on the route north of Edmonton Green and well beyond Ponders End which the 349 (see below) isn't alleviating. 259 reduced to every 10 minutes Mon-Fri (with additional peak journeys), 12 all day Saturday and Sundays and evenings. 349 reduced to every 10 minutes daily, 12 evenings.
123 increased to every 8 minutes MS and 10 Sundays as a temporary measure during the GOBLIN blockade, with a further review once the works are completed.
W3 (in echo of previous poster) increased to every 5 minutes MF peaks (with additional relief journeys between Ferme Park Road and Fin P), 6 MS daytime, 8 Sunday shopping hours and early evenings on all days of the week. Consideration given to a half hourly all night service.

I think the 197 could do with a frequency increase to x10mins and the 166 to 4bph to Banstead and 2bph to Epsom.

I agree with you but the Epsom - Banstead part of the 166 is funded by Surrey CC and I doubt they'll add another bus even though I would like it happen if anything 407 should be DD and should see from there.

How about:
3: a PVR increase on Sunday's to help it better serve a 10 minute frequency.
60: 10min frequency (to better handle the rush hour between Croydon and Purley Downlands Precinct)
118: 10min frequency to ease things up a little
119: every 8 minutes instead of 10 (this should ease congestion in Croydon a little).
166: 2 buses and hour serving Epsom (Epsom routes currently the busiest of the route)
417: every 8 minutes
S3: a Sunday service with a 30min frequency
X26: 20min frequency (would be nice to see with an upcoming tender update)

Disagree with the 60 - there are 6 other buses from Croydon to Purley not just the 60. Agree with the 166 and X26. No comment on the other routes.

Does the 119 really need an increase? The current level of service seems quite adequate from what I've seen. I certainly agree about the 166, indeed I mentioned it previously, and the S3 and X26.

The problem with the 119 is that it's one of those routes that's fine when it's fine, but absolutely packed in the rush hour. Not even the new Gemini 3s have resolved this sadly. So it could just have a greater PVR increase during the rush hour, but kept the same at other times

The issue is that all buses from Croydon to Purley need a slight PVR increase. Routes 466, 166 and 407 are particular highlights. But therefore, when a 60 turns up, it's absolutely packed aswell, so even a frequency of 10mins could help a little

So it could just have a greater PVR increase during the rush hour, but kept the same at other times I appreciate that the 119 gets packed at peak times in and out of Croydon as do the parallel 194 and 198. I'd also agree about increasing the 60 to every 10 minutes, it's the only north/south route across Croydon nowadays.

I certainly agree with the 118 since I've already suggested it on two occasions before lol. The 417 already has a 8-9 minute frequency during the peaks and it still struggles.
