But you also need to appreciate the Team pretty much had a complete overhaul in 2018, gone were the players like Gerrard and Rooney who while were world class were quite ball greedy and not coherent as a team. You don't have to go far online to see what people really think of Southgate. Not to mention look at the path England have had this Euros. England vs Croatia, relatively balanced. England vs Scotland - Scotland were far weaker but England couldn't score a single goal. England vs Czech - a single goal in the 12th minute then nothing else at all. England vs Germany - a real good match, England shone and it's how it should have been. England vs Ukraine - if England didn't win this then it'd have been a joke. England vs Denmark was a farcical game. England's two goals came from a Penalty and an Own Goal, none of it was actually caused by the English team. While good news for England, the game wise it was pretty awful. It's no surprise other countries in Europe are creasing at seeing England get into a final despite barely pulling their weight around this tournament. I don’t understand the constant criticism of this England team. They are in the d*mn final!!! I don’t recall Portugal getting so much criticism for sleep walking their way to the final five years ago. We are not an attacking team but we get the job done. You don’t get points for style in football, all that matters is the end result. This reminds me very much of England’s Rugby World Cup win in 2003. There was a lot of criticism (particularly in Australia) of our apparent reliance on huge forwards and Jonny Wilkinson’s boot. But we simply played to our strengths and won lots of rugby matches doing it. Southgate has got this team playing exactly as he wants and he is winning football matches. Isn’t that the whole point of football? *sigh* It’s a figure of speech. Harry Kane has a history of popping up with important goals when it matters. Strikers don’t necessarily have to play well all the time because their main job is sticking it in the back of the net and Kane can do that I should probably have saved my typing because it’s clear we’re getting nowhere here. It utterly baffles me that we have made our first final in 55 years and there are still people who aren’t happy Not interested in the whole debate but I’d like to point out that Portugal was roundly criticised for sleep walking their way to that win and were even criticised by Portuguese people - I know this as I’ve worked with a number of Portuguese people. No comment on anything else

A few comments on social media, most seem to be from Jocks funnily enough, about how England fluked it with an own goal and a missed penalty that should never have been given.
Well if it wasn't for the own goal Raheem Sterling would have had a tap in and whilst the penalty award was questionable so was the free kick Denmark scored from. Yes Harry Kane was fortunate that the ball came straight back to him from the penalty and whilst it was a great strike from the Denmark free kick Jordan Pickford really shouldn't have been beaten by it.
So it's really as broad as it is long.

Sterling has a habit of bottling a tap in so you never know, the free Kick Denmark scored from was looked at in a lot more detail and was concluded as a great call by the refs rather than being fluky like England's penalty.

So I’ve just had a little nosey around and it does seem like there are parallels with Portugal’s campaign in 2016 and our current tournament - apart from the fact we’ve actually won games! Seems to me that it boils down to ‘but they just aren’t entertaining!’ Since that appears to be the major issue can someone point me in the direction of the rule that says football teams must be entertaining in order to win football tournaments?

So even though England is in the final if they were on the other side of the draw do you think they would have reached the final. (As in if they were on the side Belgium and Italy were on?)

They would have had as good a chance as any. It might have been tougher but I think England could give anyone a game at the current time. I almost wish we had ended up on the so called tougher side of the draw - would have been one less thing for the critics to complain about

If we were on the other side of the draw we might have had the potential to reach the final if Southgate got match tactics right.

A small minority of England fans are really letting the side down. With the laser pointer, the attack described in the post above, a small amount of thuggish behaviour on Wednesday night and obviously the booing of the opposition anthems, the huge majority of honest, decent England fans are getting tarred with the same brush. It’s not fair and it’s not right and this bad behaviour needs to be called out by those who see it happening
Especially the anthem booing, not least because Il Canto degli Italiani is a cracking national anthem. Hell, I’ll probably humming along with it on Sunday evening!
I just hope the (sadly) inevitable bad behaviour doesn’t detract from what’s going to be hopefully an utterly fantastic night for English football
ITS COMING HOME!!!!! 🏴🏴🏴🦁🦁🦁

Good to see one particular fan start a fund raiser for the German girl who was crying and subsequently, her family sent abuse online by some idiots as seems to the customary thing on the internet nowadays - it reminded me of the story about the disabled Spurs fan who got mocked by morons online because of the way she celebrated a goal, like seriously grab a life instead!

I hope whatever happens tomorrow, and it really is too close to call, that it all passes off without incident. I think it would have been tempting fate to make Monday a national holiday, it would no doubt be seen as arrogance by some people, but hopefully it'll be a day of celebrations.

My reaction on seeing that German girl crying was ‘that’s not nice, we’ve all been there’ - simply didn’t occur to me that some lowlife scum would abuse her. It’s heartening that a fundraiser was started and I understand the German family have asked for it to be donated to charity

A huge event will be taking place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. The Red Arrows will be flying over the stadium at 7.48pm. The flight will be on a trajectory from North of Slough - East of Willesden - North-east of Hertford so should be seen over quite a wide area.
Apparently there might be some football as well to entertain the crowds after they have gathered to watch the flypast.

What are we thinking the results of tonight's game are?
I'm optimistic it's coming home but what do you all think?
