Rashford will now become the new Southgate after that rather poor penalty! Not a football fan but that seemed a pretty rubbish attempt.

Can honestly say I knew England weren’t going to win.

Probably my second time fully watching a football match. Very disappointed with the result, after expecting a good game due to England's first goal within 2 minutes and Italy's questionable performance at the start

Well what do I say ….
Positives are that this is a great squad which holds a lot of positives for the future
Negatives - what the hell happened in the second half. The guys just lost it completely for some reason (bloody missed 10 min as my internet went down!!!) but they were lucky not to concede more
Rubbish efforts by the last 2 (particularly rashford) but kudos to Pickford for those superb saves

I'm lost for words, honestly, my hopes were raised at the beginning, with Shaw's 2 minute goal, but as the match progressed, they slowly faded, especially when Italy scored their first goal.

Congratulations to Italy........ quite bizarre bringing Rashford and Sancho on in the 120th minute just for penalties and of course they both fail to score. Credit to Pickford for saving two penalties but sadly it just wasn't enough.

Whilst I wasn't supporting England, sadly the inevitable thing from three black players missing penalties is for the racism towards them from English fans which has already started online - what a sad world we live in

I will be honest when I say that I didn't expect England to get to the final but they proved me wrong. I'm proud they got far but Italy defensive ways proved to be effective. I did have them as the dark horse of the competition.
Well done to both

That was so close which Italy had got the edge in the end (unfortunately IMO) and I'm massively disappointed for England on that, but a credit to both England and Italy who have been brilliant throughout the tournament and especially to Italy/Mancini who has managed to turn around from the failed World Cup qualification to the European champions in 3 years.
Fingers crossed on that hopefully one day it will be England's turn to lift a trophy.

This will probably carry over to tomorrow when the same people are on their hangovers and running around in public. Not only that, there's probably some sort of increase in domestic abuse as people take their anger out on their wives and kids. My thoughts go out to anyone affected by this - please call either the police or 0808 2000 247 (Refuge's National Domestic Abuse Helpline) if you are affected.

Massively, massively disappointed. If we’d kept up the tempo of the first 20 minutes things would be been different but we retreated further and further back inviting the Italians on - an equaliser was inevitable. Extra time was an improvement but I suppose it was always going to be penalties. The penalties were poor - I have no idea what Rashford was thinking - but Pickford did his bit
A grudging congratulations to Italy but I do feel like it was a typically niggly Italian performance - I don’t think Chiellini should have escaped with just a yellow for example
I do think there’s more to come from this England side though - the next World Cup and next Euros should see more strong performances and still believe football will come home one day

On the level though if you know people that are outside right now when they shouldn't be. CALL THEM UP TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE SAFE. Tempers are flaring at the moment and emotions are running high.

Hhhmm, there is an argument it was serious foul play
