As far as I can see there is no thread for underground discussion for anything that is not specific to a certain line so created this thread.
At the moment LU are accepting crosscountry tickets on any reasonable route due to a lineside fire between Stafford and Crewe. What is a reasonable route on the underground?

I guess something like Euston to Waterloo if a cross country train from Stafford to Bournemouth is cancelled?

This just showed up on my Twitter feed! That is amazing, it is no wonder many things got built fast. These days, way too much H&S, it works well in some ways, but others just long and drawn out. Or we get the case where we now have unnecessary works or drawn out to be longer to get more money.

That’s not dissimilar to when they were building the jubilee extension under Westminster we were passing over on the district on wooden trestles with enforced speed restrictions

In the 90s Borough High Street (nr Southwark Street) was similar where traffic went over a long and wide metallic incline during the construction of the Jubilee Line extension. By chance do you know if stations like Tooting Bec¹, Balham and Clapham Common had the same method of temporary road amendments, given those stations have their ticket offices under road junctions? ¹ - then called Trinity Road

I know this may not be a big deal but Whipps Cross could use with a station and I think the Victoria Line would be a good option to extend 1 stop from Walthamstow Central to Whipps Cross to reduce the congestion of passengers using the bus and to avoid all the chaotic traffic between Walthamstow and Whipps Cross

Users can access Whipps Cross via interchanging onto the 230

I noticed the enamel sign at the new Bank Central line entrance has the Hainailt loop as separate with an interchange at Hainault. Must be something that could be made permanent with no through trains again.

The tunnels at Walthamstow Central continue a bit past Hoe Street as it was intended to be extended, but to save on costs this was scrapped. It definately needs a station around Whipps Cross roundabout, I know Wood Street is not that far. Although linking it to take-over part of the central line would prove a challenge which could be done at Snaresbook. IIRC I am sure I read that Leytonstone station was left in a way even when the M11 (A12) link road was constructed to still have space there in case of a Chelney line or otherwise was to link the Central line there.

How does the signalling generally work at stations like Ealing Common where ATO operates on the District Line yet manually driven on the Piccadilly Line?
