I understand Kingston has a reasonable night time economy given the TfL night buses are pretty busy. There is nothing to stop a commercial operator registering a night service from there to Epsom given there are plenty of commercial operators in Surrey and some of them run cross boundary services commercially and some are on tender. The fundamental problem is that a commercial service could not offer Oyster level fares to Epsom nor could it do so to intermediate stops in Greater London (assuming these were served). The fact that no one has ventured to offer a night service, even at weekends, on a commercial basis suggests the operators believe there is not much of a market. The other issue would be taxi / minicab competition but I've no clue about the level of provision of those for night time travel in the Kingston area. Another thing to consider is that a vast proportion of people who live in the outer boroughs are probably prepared to pay cab fares as a number of them are well to do financially compared to people in inner boroughs who rely far more on public transport. Not for us students We have no choice but to get the cab on the way back home because of the limited night bus services in the area.

my opinion: 121 - The Enfield island village people has to either walk or take a taxi, which is quite unfair. 75 - restore this as it is useful from the south east to south london at night, while now we have to take it all the way to central london then swap for a 2nd leg ride. "The Enfield island village people" sounds a bit like a tribute act coming to the bars and clubs of North London/SE herts soon. I agree that the 121 should have a 24 hour service - it gets to almost 22 hours at weekends as it is. Perhaps some resources could be swapped from the N91 when the Piccadilly Line goes 24 hours at weekends as the two routes share a fair bit of common ground. It also restores the old N29 facility down the Southbury Road which was lost when the bendies were introduced (one reason why later 121 journeys were added, tbf) I'd like to see the W7 get an all night service, especially once the 24 hour tube comes in. People would use it. Yes the W7 would be useful Fri/Sat nights when the tube is running but I'm not sure about the rest of the week?

Parts of North Bexley lack night buses : notably eastern parts of Thamesmead and Upper and Lower Belvedere. The N1 could be diverted at the Barge Pole roundabout to run via Yarnton Way and route 401 to Belvedere Station to plug that gap - Thamesmead North and Central would still have the night 472.

I don't see why Epsom can't at least have one night bus service given there are plenty of TFL day services. I mentioned this in another thread, either the N44 could be extended via route 470 to Epsom, an N93 Putney Bridge <-> Epsom via route 293, or an N281 Hounslow <-> Epsom via route 406.
Also extend the N68 to Caterham station to provide a night service to and from the area.

I think the 282 could do with a night service because Eastcote, Northwood and Northwood Hills could do with a night service.
The H12 could also do with a night service because Hatch End and Pinner don't have a night service.
Extend the night of the 140 from Harrow Weald to Edgware to provide a night service between Harrow and Edgware.

Also extend the N68 to Caterham station to provide a night service to and from the area. I wish that could happen via Caterham-on-the-Hill. That would be awesome

Isn't it sensible to turn the question on its head and ask what bits of North West / West London are sufficiently busy to justify the provision of *extra* night buses? There may very well be legitimate gaps with night time demand that is unserved but there are not that many centres with a buoyant night time economy that would support all night buses or which justify a link from Central London. How busy are places like Harrow, Greenford, Ruislip and Uxbridge late at night? I suspect "not very" is probably the answer. If it wasn't for Heathrow Airport then you almost certainly wouldn't have the N140, N285 or N105 nor the early starts on several routes serving the Bath Road corridor or into Heathrow / Hatton Cross. I do agree with the N140 running from Edgware though. I can see the merit of that infill link given the N140 is already busy.

A night route around the Becontree station area linking largely residential areas that are currently without buses long before the last Tubes have arrived from central London. Maybe the 62 or 145 perhaps, and maybe even a half-hourly 364 all night too. Would be good for shift workers...

The P4 (as mentioned) would make sense once both the Victoria line at Brixton and the DLR in Lewisham have the night service.

I'm thinking of route linking Morden to Lewisham with the route following 157 to Palace then from there the 122 to Lewisham.

I definitely think Heathrow & Uxbridge should have a night bus service. It's the only 'biggish' town in the surrounding area in London that doesn't connect with Heathrow 24hrs a day. A lot of Heathrow's workforce live within the Uxbridge/Heathrow corridor and it could become a benefit for them as it would be to residents of the Uxbridge area. I wouldn't run it via the A10 route, probably the U3 though, with the possibility of leaving out some of the quieter roads. I'd also nominate the U3 as it serves Brunel University, Hillingdon Hospital & West Drayton Station - all of which are also active 24hrs a day.

The P4 (as mentioned) would make sense once both the Victoria line at Brixton and the DLR in Lewisham have the night service. I'd introduce it as soon as September when the Victoria Line goes 24 hour because of the links to Brixton as well from local areas like Herne Hill Road, North Dulwich & Dulwich Village as well places beyond. Whilst North Dulwich already has the 37, the P4 serves the end of Brixton that houses the Brixton Academy which is a massive crowd draw.
