I'm thinking of route linking Morden to Lewisham with the route following 157 to Palace then from there the 122 to Lewisham. Would it not be easier to have a 24 hour 118 & P4 rather than a long, winding route. I do agree to have a 24 hour 157 though.

A night route around the Becontree station area linking largely residential areas that are currently without buses long before the last Tubes have arrived from central London. Maybe the 62 or 145 perhaps, and maybe even a half-hourly 364 all night too. Would be good for shift workers... I think it is about time the area to the south of Wood Lane - 'deep' Dagenham if you like - got some 24 hour coverage. The 145 would work nicely linking into the N15 at Martins Corner for Central London, and give Gale Street/Heathway/Dagenham Village a link into the network - these areas are currently a fair walk from the one route at present. Heathway tube is busy from the first train of the morning with shift workers and I doubt the demand suddenly appears at 4:30am.

True that but the whole reason I suggested the first reason is because I think that both 157 and 75 should have 24 hour routes and that if 157 has a night route it may aswell go to a Tube/DLR station at the other end which is Lewisham plus that has no 24/night route serving the south east of it.

A bit optimistic wanting a 24hr service on the 75 and 157. I think 75 and 154 might be more viable.

An N75 to Woolwich would be more useful than a 24 hour service, connecting Croydon/Norwood Junction/Sydenham and Blackheath/Charlton/Woolwich.

A little snippet from the new TfL Budget document for 2015/16. Sort of confirms what we knew but does say for certain that there will be weekend only suburban night bus links.

I stil not been told why thrs no nite buses thru dagenham and hornchurch/upmonster. Must b reason. I think places like Staines Slough Dartford wuld benefit from nite services. 96 from woolwich to dartford 116 kingston to staines and N9 extension or 111 to slough.

I think places like Staines Slough Dartford wuld benefit from nite services. 96 from woolwich to dartford 116 kingston to staines and N9 extension or 111 to slough. The blunt answer is that TfL do not have endless funds and not every whim or demand can be or will be met. Not everywhere deserves a night bus service and therefore does not get one. It doesn't matter how deserving we might think an area is because we aren't in charge of the budget nor are inside the planning process for new / amended services. Places like Staines and Slough, although served by TfL, are not within TfL's jurisdicton and therefore it is for the market to provide services to places like Heathrow. To be fair private operators and Surrey County Council do manage to provide a reasonable flow of early morning / late night buses into Heathrow from surrounding areas for airport employees and those taking early flights. Looking at the Abellio 441 plus First Berkshire 75/76/77/78 and 60/61 they all have early morning departures daily - often at 0330 from Staines and Slough to get people to the airport plus buses between 2230 and 2330 for late shift employees going home. Let's be honest there are no shift changes or flights at Heathrow in the middle of the night and therefore there's not much reason for shed loads of night buses reaching the airport at 0200. It is only TfL's consistent service pattern policy that means the N9, 140, 285, 105 and 111 go there throughout the night.
