There is to be an announcement apparently on the 23rd of September regarding the Arriva Bucks business; the rumour mill has it that First and Go-Ahead are involved.. That's strange, because Arriva is restructuring its High Wycombe local services including renumbering most of the routes, these changes effective from Sunday 3rd September. Although I did wonder how long High Wycombe could sustain two competing operators - I guess we are about to find out. www.arrivabus.co.uk/latest-news/high-wycombe-bus-changes-sept-23

Bases at High Wycombe , Hemel , Aylesbury … any others ? Interesting. I can certainly envisage a scenario where Go Ahead would be interested in the Kent network. Hemel Hempstead is part of Kent Thameside whilst Wycombe, Aylesbury and MK are another subsidiary

Hemel Hempstead is part of Kent Thameside whilst Wycombe, Aylesbury and MK are another subsidiary But isn’t their Hemel Hempstead depot part of “The Shires” which is part of Arriva Herts & Essex? It is so confusing as they also seem to have routes in Hemel Hempstead under Southern Counties and subsequently Kent Thameside.

Think from memory the Shires consist of Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Interesting that in the Arriva North West accounts they have written off the whole value of property and fleet. Said to be to make a sale more attractive within the next 12 months. Recorded huge loss by this move. Be interested to see if other accounts do likewise. Would explain why Arriva did not want to invest in these electric schemes if they are just planning to write the value off.

Could be a lost of money saved with a bit more organisation and less management structures.

Not really, under the last reorg a few years ago The Shires was split between Southern Counties & Midlands, so basically got rid of the old The Shires management hierarchy.

Arriva Kent and Surrey also filed their accounts very late and show a colossal loss. Like North West, Kent and Surrey have also written off/down the value of assets. There’s an impairment charge of over £12m too. Reading the auditors independent statement is quite telling - they were unable to establish how many employees the company had. Crazy.

I also wonder if Arriva North West is trying to get out before any bus franchising announcement in the Liverpool City Region. If they lose Merseyside they won't have a lot left.

Wasn't the same said about the Go-Ahead and Stagecoàch takeovers. Yes a possibility, but the previous tales of doom never materialised.

The first of 22 new ZEBRA-funded Wright Electroliners for Arriva Leicester has now been delivered As Centrebus Yutongs and First Kites are also green it will be hard to spot the difference between operators at a distance. That said, this large-scale electrification there is excellent.
