Route 45 was traditionally South Kensington - Camberwell - King's Cross - Archway, the Archway extension being 1978-85. Now that route 45 is being withdrawn, route 345 South Kensington - Camberwell - Peckham may as well reclaim the number 45 sooner or later. Was the Archway extension then daily? I remember it still going that far on Sundays beyond 1985.

I don't even know what the W means for W5,W6,W7,W8 and W9 The W8 was a renumbering of the 128 when it converted from crew to flat-fare OMO using a farebox, at that time there were a number of W-prefix flat-fare routes in the area. W9 was a new minibus route in 1973 (at the time it was introduced it was also flat-fare and used a farebox. W4, W5 and W6 were new midibus routes in the late 1980s/early 1990s and were designed to provide new links to roads and areas previously unserved. As there were still a number of W-prefix routes in the area they filled in the gap between W3 and W7.

Now that route 45 is being withdrawn, route 345 South Kensington - Camberwell - Peckham may as well reclaim the number 45 sooner or later. It would simply create confusion when people think this bus is meant to go straight ahead at Camberwell or turn right at Brixton The obsession with route numbers with the affected routes in the consultation is hilarious - the fact people are more fussed with them rather than the damage being done to the network and the broken links says it all

That way the link to Kings from Brixton Hill is maintained and the 345 becomes a bit shorter. Not sure if it would be too long but could send the 345 to Anerley via the 432 which would be withdrawn.

I think the BBC used to run a W1 and W2 bus shuttle between studios in Regent Street and White City at the time, perhaps there was no W1 or W2 buses in Wood Green for that reason the W5, W6, W7, W8, W9 are nowhere nearby... W10 became 456, W11-19 are around Woodford and Walthamstow (is there even a W17 or 18?)... the gaps in numbers make my teeth itch

If anything, it is a route number W12 that ought to serve the BBC at White City.

Or is that out-of the water?

However it was said it could be revisited in the future as a reliability measure aswell supporting the planned Whipps Cross developments with additional capacity provided between Leyton and Whipps Cross.

However it was said it could be revisited in the future as a reliability measure aswell supporting the planned Whipps Cross developments with additional capacity provided between Leyton and Whipps Cross. The idea remains on the incubator, so to speak, if the W15 continues to fail it's performance targets as it did with Tower. The new contract is nothing to stop it happening either - see 140/X140, 306/391, 407/443 which happened midcontract
