Love to see the cheat Suarez crying at the end. The way it happened was beautiful. As for Brazil…like I said above, any big team doesn’t show up thinking they can simply turn up and win is in trouble. Fantastic win for Cameroon, what a header! Every team looking beatable so far in this World Cup. Great tournament. It really came to haunt him. Sometimes when you do things, do not capitalise on it. He went on about the handball and how it was Ghana's fault that they missed the penalty. It was rough justice if he and Nunez was subbed as maybe the coach thought they had it in the bag, but after all it is the world cup of surprises....

By contrast nice to see Vincent Aboubakar accept his second yellow card and subsequent red with such good grace after scoring the winner against Brazil. Some great games over the last few days and hopefully the knockout stages will be just as good. I'll stick my neck on the block and predict the last 8 will be USA, Argentina, France, England, Japan, Brazil, Spain and Switzerland. I thought it was good of the referee to apologise to him for having to send him off! It was clearly a huge moment for Aboubakar and makes a mockery of the rule that says taking your shirt off is a booking. Does anyone know why this happens? Personally I think it’s a ridiculous rule The final group games have all been fantastically dramatic - it makes no sense that FIFA are set on 16 groups of 3 at the next World Cup. Whatever they do there are going to be final games played at walking pace because a draw sends both sides through Your final eight is probably about right although I fancy Morocco to possibly pull off a shock and I’ll definitely be cheering for Australia tonight! Regardless of anyone’s thoughts on the host nation I think the football and the competition in this World Cup has been first class. I didn’t think the last World Cup would be bettered but I definitely think we’re getting there And on an England note - this has to be one of the most successful group stages we’ve ever had. We are one of only five unbeaten nations and joint top for goals scored and points won. Grinding out a draw against a tricky US side doesn’t seem quite as bad now Taking off the shirt was allowed. IIRC it was from the 2006 work cup onwards this rule applied. I believe it also spread to other games, not just world cup. It is something with excessive celebrations. So it is an automatic yellow card now.

I’m sure the usual suspects will say the usual things but that’s a good win over the African champions, a third clean sheet in a row, three good goals and some good performances. Was it a good performance overall? No, but they got the job done. France start as favourites but we have nothing to fear from them. I’m looking forward to Saturday - come on England!
It’s Coming Home!! 🏴🏴🏴🦁🦁🦁

A few dodgy moments in the opening half hour but once we got our noses in front the outcome was never in doubt. I'd expect a tight game against France on Saturday but as you say, nothing to fear.

Senegal seemed to be stuck like a 318 blindset

Shame to see Japan go out, I thought they looked the better team for much of the game but some woeful penalties in the shoot out............ Brazil looked good although maybe South Korea made them look good and some of their celebrations were a bit over the top and some might say disrespectful to the opposition.

Oh god, the celebration police are out and about - first, we had this in the Premier League when teams won an important match and they were told not to celebrate because they'd won nothing beyond the result and now it's apparently disrespectful to dance when someone scores a goal.

The celebrations did feel a little over the top and a little disrespectful but they aren’t known as the Samba Boys for nothing. They won’t have meant any disrespect I’m sure - things like that are just what they do. In one way it was nice to see the team celebrating together - Brazil are a strong side both on and off the pitch and it’s going to take a special performance from a special side to beat them

A tight first half between Morocco and Spain, hopefully a bit more action in second half.
