I did notice that the cameras quickly switched away from the protests during the tennis yesterday and not giving these people the exposure on TV is good but as you say, spectators will all have their phones out posting it on social media within seconds I just find it unfathomable that these people think these protests will win people around to their cause - they are causing far more harm than good Not quite the same circumstances, one of the drivers engines caught fire and Marshalls had to intervene, crossing the race track without permission and I believe one of them got killed also. F1 is a really dangerous sport like what happened to Jules Bianchi in 2014. So I really hope that the protestors have some common sense to not run onto the race trackĀ Lewis Hamilton has said that he would support peaceful protests but to even contemplate encroaching on the track during the race would be crazy. The terrible incident in South Africa all those years ago shows what could possibly happen, protesters wouldn't only be putting themselves at risk.

There's a huge difference between peaceful protest and what Just Stop Oil do. They look like the type of people who would do something like running onto the race track. Like I said in a previous post they have done dangerous things like walking in front of traffic on Bayswater Road. I think they're very similar to Extinction Rebellion although I don't hear that much about them anymore

I think they're very similar to Extinction Rebellion although I don't hear that much about them anymore Extinction Rebellion have scaled back their activities and their actions are now more targeted rather than trying to cause general disruption. Just Stop Oil has kind of taken up their mantle. The two groups are not formally affiliated but I guess that some of the people in XR who were keen on direct action have crossed over to JSO.

It may not be "owned" by the same organisation, but still has most of the same people being involved. No different from Insulate Britain or even of these other loony crackpot smoking organisations.

While I have nothing but distaste for the Cameron government, I think to ruin someone's special day is a step too far.

I think they crossed the line when they started disrupting all of these big events

I think they crossed the line when they started disrupting all of these big events It does seem rather a pointless and stupid thing to do, seems they'll do anything to keep themselves in the public eye. The couple didn't seem particularly bothered about it. Hopefully there will be no nonsense at Silverstone today, there will be a big security presence there. *Nothing to do with JSO but here's an interloper at a grand prix in Germany years ago. youtu.be/2binQqdIVfM
