Well I think the way to solve overcrowding in prisons is to bring back the death penalty. Say all the murderers in this country were executed, it would make space for people who should go to jail for lesser crimes like JSO protestors. It would also result in crime levels dropping as no one would want to commit murder when they know they could be executed. Quite frankly I think that a lot of crimes should be punished by death eg murder, rape, child abuse, trafficking, sexual/physical abuse etc I don't think there is any likelihood of the death penalty being restored and sadly there are still miscarriages of justice such as Andy Malkinson. Having the death penalty didn’t stop people commiting murder.

It would probably just make martyrs of them and whatever the rights and wrongs of their actions I don't think they're a danger to the public. One of the reasons for prison overcrowding in this country is that far more people are sent to prison compared to other European countries. Well I think the way to solve overcrowding in prisons is to bring back the death penalty. Quite frankly I think that a lot of crimes should be punished by death eg murder, rape, child abuse, trafficking, sexual/physical abuse etc The only way I would agree to a death penalty is the crime was committed on CCTV and evidence is there to show the person did it with possible DNA evidence. As the worst thing is that the wrong person gets executed which has happened over the years.

As the worst thing is that the wrong person gets executed which has happened over the years. I have previously mooted a return of the death penalty but under strict conditions. Like proof beyond an absolute shadow of doubt, independent case reviews of evidence, a panel of judges reviewing the case and various other steps like review by the justice minister, Home Secretary and possibly even the PM. Basically so many steps that by the time it got the actual death penalty there have been no opportunities to question the decision. That said I just don’t see it happening, it would be a backwards step for a civilised nation. Rehabilitating prisoners through cognitive therapies and treatment programs is the better step to reintegrating them back into communities.
