I don't know much about football. I realise England aren't doing as well as their potential. But I sure hope it comes home this time. £90 on the line. Yeahhh about that £90.... there's a good chance you won't get it back 😂

Performances in the group stage haven’t set the world on fire, but we qualified top of the group and that’s all that matters. Back the team and enjoy the ride. The overall quality of the teams in this tournament is very high and we’re not the only team with world class individuals. I hope to see Mainoo and Palmer start the next game, possibly switch Saka to the left wing to accommodate Palmer. Mainoo transformed our midfield last night. Not only is he good at breaking up attacks and getting forward, but his positioning out of possession is excellent, constantly creating space for players around him as well as breaking up attacks. Slovenia were unable to press our defence as well once he came on. Rice was able to move forward with a bit more freedom too. Guéhi and Stones have looked solid so far, a huge plus. Trippier is doing the best he can filling in on the left plus he’s reportedly managing an injury so he’s not sprinting beyond Foden. If Luke Shaw is available for the next game, it would make a huge difference to the balance of the team. You can’t play Saka on the left - you either leave him on the right or drop him otherwise your doing the same thing that’s happening with Foden I fancy Saka to do a better job on the left wing than Foden. Foden is a 10 who likes to play central. We need to do something to improve our attacking options on the left. Saka is left footed and has already shown he is smart enough to convert from left back to right wing. Saka has been our best player so far, but I think he causes problems on either flank. Gordon played a great forward pass through the middle last night - probably the first such pass across all our games so far - but he doesn’t terrorise defenders in a way that Saka or Palmer do. Accommodating Bellingham and Foden in the same team is another headache for Southgate. Some suggest playing Bellingham deeper alongside Rice and moving Foden to 10. That makes sense to me, but hearing Foden has returned to the UK for the birth of his child, the next starting 11 has probably become a little easier to pick.

You’re supposed to say ‘we’re crap, sack Southgate’ 😉 You make some good points though - the defence have looked solid and it would be a welcome addition if Shaw is fit. But it’s the midfield where things looked so much better with the addition of Mainoo and Palmer (even Gordon in the few minutes he got last night). Anything can happen in the knockout stages Not gonna lie, I was foaming at the mouth after the Denmark game 😂 Had a bit of time to calm down and the draw looks favourable for another deep run into the tournament.

Saka wasn't a LB though - he always a winger through the youth set up at Arsenal and only played there because we had big issues at LWB when he broke in. When Arteta abandoned the back 3/5 system, Saka was rightfully moved to the front line where he has been ever since. I've watched him play LW for my club before and he is not effective there just like Foden is currently showing. Gordon is the best option on the LW IMO - he is pacy and plays for Newcastle (and really well, better than I ever thought he would) on the LW. My opinion on England isn't valued on here for obvious reasons but if it was me picking the team, it should be: Same GK & DF (because LB is so limited due to the idiotic decision to bring just one out and out LB who isn't even fit), then you play either Rice, Bellingham with Foden further forward or you drop one of Foden/Bellingham, play the one who survives in the 10 role, have Mainoo or Wharton next to Rice, then front three from left to right of Gordon, Kane, Saka. If I was actually allowed to pick who came out in the first place, I wouldn't of brought Shaw and would of brought Chilwell and/or Mitchell for the LB slot.

Yeahhh about that £90.... there's a good chance you won't get it back 😂 It’s only a sweepstakes, only put £5 in! 🤣 1-0, 1-1 and 0-0 aren’t inspiring scores though. Mind you I got Morocco for the World Cup a couple years ago and they did surprisingly well… bloody France and Croatia though. 🤬

Well as dull and uninspiring as England may have been at least we haven’t lost to the lowest ranked team in the competition! Take nothing away from Georgia though - they were excellent tonight

Starting to think France have made a bet with themselves to win the whole tournament without scoring a goal from open play……

Starting to think France have made a bet with themselves to win the whole tournament without scoring a goal from open play…… Five decent penalties to be fair against a keeper who saved three in the previous round but otherwise they've been mediocre but have somehow stumbled into the semi finals, hopefully we can do the same tomorrow.

I’ll take stumbling into the semis but I’d quite like to see a little bit of swagger - there’s a possibility of a more attacking formation against the Swiss which could be interesting

If so, that's a more defensive formation
