I agree-STOP calling them Routemasters! FINALY, I'm not alone! I belive the term 'Routemaster' to the NB4L is blasphemous to the original design, they should at least call then 'Streetmasters' as it refers to the original, but does NOT suggest that it is directly related I imagine the routes which passed the route tests as mentioned in the FOI thread are likely candidates. Maybe a few suburban routes could convert e.g 207 Long routes with few turns (149, 207, 267) would do - though I understand hills are their bete noire... so that rules out 149 and 207 (hill climbs at Stamford Hill and Hanwell ) I'm sure they'll be giving them away - and we'll see them replace the TPs on the E8

I'll be a happy guy if they don't touch the 86 or 5. Or maybe most East London routes.

(I don't really mind what happens but I just don't think that would be the reason for the 67, 76, 149, 243 or 476 for not being converted)

Maybe a few suburban routes could convert e.g 207 The problem is 'Routemaster' is such a well known term for an iconic London bus, for example, how many times has an RT been called a Routemaster? Even though the DMS, Titan and London spec Metrobus were synonymous with London they don't have the iconic status associated with the RM. Personally, I don't have an issue with it being called the 'New Routemaster' because in reality that's what it is. As much as I think it looks awful, has an awful interior layout, is too long, has too many doors, one too staircases, not enough seats and arguably too many members of staff on board in crew mode- it is a new London icon, just like the 'old RM' Either way, new Routemaster has a better ring to it that 'NBfL' or 'Boris Monstrosity.' Incidentally, at the Access for All event at ExCeL London, a TfL buses official was hosting a sort of Q&A session where the heating/cooling issue was brought up. The gent from TfL said that earlier batches are going to be modified so the air cooling works better.

I'm happy to call it New Routemaster. Even though it's not a patch on the old bus which, in my opinion, is the best bus design in the world.
Really happy if more get ordered, though I do feel that TfL should release some official passenger feedback on them. I know they're not popular on here but I maintain that a lot of people I speak to like using them. If the people of London want more on the streets then why not, especially as their price is now comparable with the latest offerings from ADL and Volvo.

oh my. a little bit of sick just came up into my mouth I guess the name New White Elephant isn't as catchy as New Routemaster either... A lot of routes currently have issues due to tight turns so it will be interesting to see where they end up As long as they stay off the 5, 387 and N15 I'll be a very happy bus commuter I don't know why but get the feeling the 5 will end up with them! It will need new / newish buses soon rather than later.

But what's the point of a bus that's route restricted due to street furniture, mini roundabouts etc?

Possibly not for a couple of years, I think the it's up for tender in 2016. The problems with a 5 conversion are depot space at BK is at a premium (longer buses need more space), the route is incredibly busy (leaves people behind at stops even at 6am) and it goes past my front door (I know that isn't a TfL issue!) I feel if anything in East London goes over it'll be the 115 or 388 (hopefully anyway!)
