Not a good idea, it will cause the roads to become even more congested

Bearing in mind finances it's a pity the line couldn't have been extended in stages¹, eg. Burgess Park, Old Kent Road and New Cross Gate constructed as phase 1 with the rest done years later. I believe the intended sight for Old Kent Road Station is still the abandoned Toy-r-us building. ¹ - like the Battersea extension with it future-proofed for Clapham Junction reguardless... The former Toys-R-Us building is now a Lidl though. Will they give up the land? They still could if they wanted to use a compulsory purchase order to free up the land similar to what happened with some businesses in Stratford for the Oylimpics.

Dated 1 April and text in the article specifically says: It's not an April fool - not only did Ian Visits cover this on 31st March but Southwark have been looking at a tram line running from Elephant for ages - original idea was along Walworth Road but now seems to be along Old Kent Road. Put simply, having a tram line along Old Kent Road would make traffic flow even worse than it is and the justification for a future Bakerloo Line extension would be even harder to make unless they run it via Camberwell & Peckham so I see this not coming to fruition....hopefully. www.ianvisits.co.uk/blog/2021/03/31/southwark-considers-tram-alternative-to-bakerloo-line-extension/

TFL did an assessment of it a couple years ago and concluded its not feasible from difficult engineering involved.

Id rather buses over a tram. Tfl would end up cutting routes to feed into the tram like with the 54 and 353 and cross New Cross links to central London would probably be lost.

Bakerloo Line timetables will be revised from Sunday 16th May, with reductions in service levels at off-peak times.
Between Elephant & Castle and Queens Park the off-peak and evening service will reduce from 19 to 16 trains per hour. The Saturday daytime frequency will remain at 20 trains per hour and the Sunday frequency will be standardised at 16 trains per hour (currently 15 morning and 18 afternoon).
Beyond Queens Park eight trains an hour (currently 9) will continue to Stonebridge Park, four of which (currently 6) will continue to Harrow & Wealdstone.
The move is aimed at increasing reliability by allowing additional turnround time at termini.

So in other words it is to save money, let's hope all the passengers don't back at once!!!

So in other words it is to save money, let's hope all the passengers don't back at once!!! They seem to be suggesting that other lines will receive one but the issue with this is some lines are already horrendously busy even during certain periods off peak such as the Victoria Line which I had the misfortune of using Saturday gone where it was literally like a pre pandemic journey with every carriage rammed and all seats taken. The same was true on the Central though I only experienced it between Oxford Circus & Bond Street where the train emptied out to a social distancing level.
