I don't think most people took any notice of the line numbers anyway. Passengers look for the destination. Will be strange not seeing New Addington on the DOI's when I use Ampere Way.

Worth noting that two early morning services from New Addington will still run to Wimbledon. There will also be some from Elmers End round the Croydon loop, although the majority of services will run to Wimbledon.
TfL have also confirmed that line numbers have been axed.

Route P4 has been on diversion since Monday 12th February until 1700 Friday 16th February in the Dulwich Village area due to resurfacing.
From North Dulwich Station, left into East Dulwich Grove, left Lordship Lane, around Goose Green roundabout to Lordship Lane to line of route at Grove Tavern.
Route P13 is on diversion Friday 16th February until 1600 in East Dulwich not calling at Whateley Road, Underhill Road and Melford Road. Buses will run along Lordship Lane from Harris Primary East Dulwich to Grove Tavern. This will see both the P13 and P4 on diversion along Lordship Lane tomorrow.
This is the second time this week the P13 has been on diversion as it was diverted via East Dulwich Road, Peckham Rye and Rye Lane due to resurfacing work.

I’ve noticed that some of the Bombardier CR4000 trams have had their route numbers taken off, and just displaying the destination. I guess the new tram timetable changes might have been given the go ahead. Yes, February 25th is when the changes start.

P13. So many examples. Quicker to get to Peckham from Streatham by getting a bus to Brixton, then the 37 or 345 than via Tulse Hill and the back streets of East Dulwich. Peckham to the Grove Tavern is quicker by the 197 or 12, changing at Dulwich Library for the 176 or 185. It'd also be quicker to get to Peckham by changing at Underhill Road for the 363 than staying on the bus.

Route 40 - Reduce to every 10 mins, while keeping the 8 mins during peaks, increase the Sunday service to every 15 mins. Route 176 - Withdrawn between Forest Hill and Penge to improve reliability. (Covered by Routes 122 and 197) Route 185 - reduce to every 10 mins, but utilising the spare PVR to increase the 176 to every 8 minutes off-peak. Route 12 - Reduced to every 6/7 minutes, however increase the 197 to every 10 minutes (except evenings) to replace some of the lost services between Peckham and Dulwich Library, along with my proposal to withdraw the 176 past Forest Hill. Route 68 - revised to terminate at Herne Hill with the 468 taking the strain between Herne Hill and West Norwood. Route 356 - Reduced to every 30 mins off-peak except during school open and close to every 20 mins as now. Route 432 - revised to terminate at Crystal Palace. 157 and 358 would still be sufficient between Anerley and Crystal Palace. Route 450 - Withdrawn between Lower Sydenham Sainsbury's and Sydenham Cobbs Corner. Route 202 from Cobbs and Route 194 from Sydenham Road (both deckers) would still provide a service towards Bell Green. New stand space would be required at Cobbs. Route 42 - Withdrawn between East Dulwich Sainsbury's and Camberwell Green. Replaced by a re-routed 484 between Denmark Hill and East Dulwich Goose Green via North Dulwich which I'd increase to every 10 mins (cut recently to 12 mins). Even after a year of the 42, it still mainly carries air on the final part of the route. Another option would be to re-route the 40 between East Dulwich Goose Green and Denmark Hill via the 42 and having the 484 go into East Dulwich Sainsbury's alongside the P13 on it's way to Camberwell.

First heard this yesterday afternoon on a T on the 197 which only played out just before the next destination was read out. Been on all the buses I've been on, playing about 5 seconds after the bus pulls away from the bus stop, except for once on the 185 as it was about to pull away from the bus stop.

And the counter argument is how many people arrive in Peckham town centre by means other than bus? I suspect the proportion is pretty low for cycles, walking, rail and private car. Buses bring in thousands of people from a wide area given the amazing spread of Peckham's bus network. I have no idea where else the buses would divert to so you are really proposing a massive restructuring of bus routes over a wide area to avoid central Peckham thus making it far more difficult for people to reach all those local shops who depend on bus passengers. I have yet to be remotely convinced that ripping bus services out of the heart of town and city centres works for anyone. Forcing bus passengers to walk to remote bus stations or to stops on ring roads or similar does nothing to encourage patronage. I'd argue that there is shed loads of evidence from across the UK that such practices wreck bus services and just shove people into cars. London is slightly different given lower car ownership levels but people will just go to places like Camberwell or Lewisham where bus access is rather easier and more convenient. The simple fact is that public transport, cycling and walking should be able to co-exist effectively in town centres and elsewhere. That is what the Mayor's transport strategy is all about. Whether London can get the balance right remains to be seen as I can't think of an "exemplar" town centre anywhere that has good bus access, a nice walking environment, limited car access / low congestion and is attractive to cyclists. Almost everywhere is a mess. Buses would simply go via Clayton Road instead so no massive upheaval would be required. Indeed, it may even work out faster than being stuck in a bus jam on Rye Lane while the front buses are picking up passengers and would shave off a couple of minutes from routes 36, 171, 436 and 345 which would run into the bus station (345 already starts there) instead of the Aylesham Centre bus stop instead.

As a regular user of the Wimbledon branch, I'd welcome the every 5 mins service. This branch is busy all day, which doesn't help when they're not evened out. If you're lucky, you'll end up on a 4 which is a min behind a packed 3 to New Addington, but on the whole those services are rammed thanks to the uneven timetable.
New Addington passengers should benefit from being able to get a seat on the Croydon loop instead of being an already packed tram.

I haven't seen anyone use the TVM's at Tramlink stops for years. It's all Oyster or Contactless. Maybe instead of TVM's, they could add another Oyster reader instead in the same space? Can be an issue at the busy Croydon tramstops getting access to the readers.
