According to Election-Data, Camberwell and Peckham have the highest proportion of bus users in the UK.
This comes as no real surprise to bus users in the area considering the heavy use of routes along the Peckham and Elephant corridor and the lack of rail services.

And here lies the problem. This passenger doesn't count as being vulnerable. I have no problem with a passenger who clearly needs help, but for people like him, it makes a mockery of me paying for a weekly bus pass.

How do you know they was able to walk that distance? If he can approach a bus and waste a drivers time by doing that he can walk from Barry Road to Peckham Rye... From the description above it seems very Obvious that the person can walk... Indeed, this blagger was more than capable of walking. He boarded mid way up Barry Road which is about 10-15 min walk away to the Kings on the Rye stop.

Oh come on! People have had fair warning now (and fair is putting it lightly)! Companies have literally littered buses with stickers telling them about it. As well as announcements playing frequently. People have NO RIGHT to complain. It's the non-Londoners I feel sorry for... Indeed, where are these new Oyster Ticket Stops in Surrey along the Dorking corridor? I was in Uxbridge yesterday and while spotting the First and Carousel buses in the town, they'll be the only choice for cash only passengers from now on.

A passenger on the 12 at 2pm today managed to blag a free ride from Barry Road to Peckham Rye Kings on the Rye as he didn't have an Oyster or contactless card. Welcome to the new world of blagging a freebie.

Oh come on! People have had fair warning now (and fair is putting it lightly)! Companies have literally littered buses with stickers telling them about it. As well as announcements playing frequently. People have NO RIGHT to complain. That is true considering the iBus announcements and some of the companies making a huge effort to inform passengers. However, lets compare this to other changes to the system, such as the promotion of Oyster which was so in your face that you couldn't help but notice. This in comparison has been pretty low key. GAL have been placing the tiny red stickers by the Oyster reader, while Arriva (on the 176 and 197 at least) either have the red stickers put on a part of the drivers cab that you only notice if sitting near the cab. The real test is tomorrow morning, the first working weekday since the changes when it's more likely to catch people out. With the addition of massive curtailments in East and Central London due to the Tour de France, I don't relish being a bus driver on duty tomorrow.

BBC London reported from East Dulwich today about concerns for passengers. I've posted the report to YouTube. youtu.be/7qhjVljEdO0

Surely the woman in question had a travelcard considering she commutes to London Bridge?

I noticed a blitz of posters being put on the local bus stops on Friday.
It also has to be said I haven't seen one passenger pay with cash on all of the routes I've rode on in a week.

If buses were to run Xmas Day why not have it the way it use to be on Boxing Day where just a small selection of routes run but did the length of two routes, eg 37 beyond Putney via 337 to Richmond (baring in mind the 37 now goes to Putney Heath). An alternative could be to have some night routes run throughout that day. I remember Boxing day services also on occasions were run by different operators. Seen a pic of a Capital City Bus on route 277 Yes, when London & Country/Links operated the 176, on Boxing Day it was operated by London Central out of Q using Titans.

The London Live tv channel also reported this advertorial as news yesterday. It so happens this tv channel is owned by the Evening Standard!
It shouldn't be a surprise considering I watched the channel once where the guests and presenters were fawning over our dear Mayor which happens to share the same editorial as the paper.

Looking at my Oyster online statement, it's recorded the journey I made on the 197 last Thursday as the 466 instead.

I witnessed my first passenger receive a One More Journey ticket on the 363 this afternoon. The passenger had to be called back to collect her ticket while the driver explained that she had to top-up before boarding another bus.
