Hopefully Andy Burnham will be promoted at some point so that HS2 North would be back on the cards (or whatever it may be called instead). Unless he is defeated in his bid for re-election for Mayor of Greater Manchester, he will not be available to stand as a candidate for Westminster. He would therefore be unable to be promoted to government even if Labour win (which I think they will).

I think routes 126 & B16 could be merged into a single Bromley - Eltham - Bexleyheath route. The section of route B16 between Eltham & Kidbrooke could be replaced by an extension of route 233.

Pedant alert. That notice commemorates it having operated with Stagecoach 1991-2024. While it has operated from TL throughout that time, and resisted transfer to KB, it has only been Stagecoach in 1994-2006 and 2010-24.

I think routes 380 & 469 could be merged into a single Lewisham - Woolwich - Erith route. The 469 section to QEH could be replaced by route 99.

Was the introduction of the 254 a part of why the 279 was fully cut from Holloway, or were the 2 events unrelated? I would by no means want to have the corridor between Seven Sisters and Manor House with the solo 259, which is why I suggested extending the 149, which could save some money whilst also providing a bit more capacity North of Edmonton Green (whilst I know money isn't too much of an issue on TfL's end now, it could help move the budget to more useful bus routes than the 349). Any of the 149 / 259 / 279 could take a slight frequency increase, if things were to get too busy, and if reliability is a concern, the 149 could be cut to Liverpool Street, which whilst it would require a change to continue to London Bridge for most journeys, most links are not broken through the 388 to London Bridge Bus Station and the 35 and 47 just outside it. On another point, the 279 would benefit a lot from an extension to Finsbury Park as greg had said, with the Manor House terminus not allowing easy interchange to other buses such as the 29, due to the approximately 200 metre walk to the nearest 29 bus stop, and the large U-turn required to turn the 279 around, with Manor House also not providing nearly enough onward connections as Finsbury Park. Though I have a question that I'm unsure of how others would react to - would the A10 corridor benefit from a parallel bus route along Watermead Way, once the Meridian Water development has been completed - say, from Edmonton Green, up the North Circular, through part of the Meridian Water development, down Watermead Way, through Tottenham Hale and onward to Seven Sisters and beyond? I think it might work if appropriate bus priority measures are installed along Watermead Way (especially Southbound), and could benefit from being a much higher-speed bus service through faster roads (avoiding a lot of 20mph speed limits). No the 254 was unrelated and took place in May 2003. In effect the 253 was already operated as two overlapping sections (Euston-Hackney and Holloway-Aldgate) and the introduction of the 254 merely formalised that arrangement. I'm not convinced extending the 279 to Finsbury Park would be worthwhile. Finsbury Park is congested and such an extension would be time-consuming, and when journeys operated to Holloway they were generally under-used beyond Manor House. The 259 provides an alternative for most journeys. It just would have been nicer had the Aldgate route kept the traditional number 253, with the newer route to Euston given the number 254.

As I live in Stockport I am about to list some sample routes in the Manchester Bee Network thread ...and as you're a Stockport local, how's the shiny new 'Stockport Interchange' working out? (I haven't been to Stockport for many years but understood it resembled a bomb-site with all the work going on...) Some of the choices of which routes use which stops is quite clever allowing for onward connections. A downside is that you have to cross a road to use routes that do not terminate at Stockport, most notably route 199. Route 192 doesn't even use the bus station, but then with sometimes 3 buses waiting to depart it probably wouldn't work out. Also, the cafe is yet to open in the bus station.

Rather irresponsible, to say the least.
I used SPCT on route E4 (Brighouse - Barkisland) in March. A couple of passengers knew the driver and chatted a bit. He went on to take some interest in where I was exploring, but we didn't talk about buses as such.

So vjaska many routes being taken over by Metroline include the following:- This list is not necessarily complete. All routes I have listed serve central Manchester unless otherwise stated. Hyde Road (currently Stagecoach) 15, 42/42a/42b/42c, 201-206, 250, 255 Sharston (currently Stagecoach) 43, 50, 101, 102. Route 43 seems likely to retain current BYDs. Ashton (currently Stagecoach) 216, 219, 230/231 and other local routes including routes 7/330 to Stockport. Wythenshawe (currently Arriva) 263 and local routes mainly around Altrincham & Sale.

Luckily I go to Manchester very often so will definitely go on the prowl for these buses can barely believe they’re 10 years old tbh, they certainly don’t look it Does seem a bit far in advance to be preparing the buses, but nothing like a bit of forward planning. I wonder if they’ll keep the same fleet numbers!!!! As your quite knowledgeable about Manchester, is there any indication what routes these are going on and are these routes mainly town work or cross country? As I live in Stockport I am about to list some sample routes in the Manchester Bee Network thread

Random question but why does RP seem so obsessed with using the 13-reg VHs on the 18? I know the on paper allocations are nominal in practice, but they were sent for the 220 and they seem to spend very little time on the route. I know a bus is a bus but I’m just intrigued because there must be a reason for it. (Is it due to them being unreliable and with WJ being mid route, the bus is never too far away from the garage in case it goes wrong?) This does give rise to the possibility that 67-reg Frogfaces become standard on route 220, while routes 18 & 266 gain new buses with RATP or an alternative operator (potentially Metroline).

I think the Richmond-Wimbledon route should be extended to Streatham, not just for the links it would provide, but for connections with the Streatham-Eltham route.

Is there any way of merging the two Superloop threads? Just a suggestion! If anything, I thought this thread would be under Consultations rather than the current routes section. I thought the same about the Golders Green to Stamford Hill route proposal.
