Looks like Putney Bridge has to be closed for 6 months for repairs. Wandsworth Council have published a paper that sets out the issues. The preferred option, based on the available funding, is to fully close the bridge. TfL have indicated they will object given the impact of bus services and, in particular, Putney Garage. Pedestrians will be able to walk across the bridge during the works. Looks like fun times ahead.

The bridge was widened before the first war and again in the 20's. Kingston bridge was widened without any loss of access. If it's so bad it needs closure, why not build a new one beside it? Brunel would be turning in his grave

Traffic will be chaos A lot of bus routes will probably have long diversions Another option would be to split the through routes? Remember 'The Petersham Hole'? Those routes from the south which terminate at Putney Bridge Station, some of them could use the 'Green Man'?

Ill be the first to say this. AF is F***ED You aren't. In the paper, "London Buses" (Go-Ahead London General?) already said that about Putney Bus Garage - it would be, well according to the paper: Well, that's obvious!

That could happen but it's just the space for the stands but it would be a good idea for routes like 93 and 85 because they pass the area

Here is a solution.
14 Diverted to Hammersmith Broadway.
22 Diverted via Wandsworth Bridge Road, Wandsworth bridge, Wandsworth town, then via 270 to Putney Common
74 Curtailed at Putney Bridge Station
85 Curtailed at Putney Garage
93 Curtailed to Putney Garage
265 Extended to Wandsworth
270 Extended to Putney Common
220 Curtailed at Putney Bridge station
424 Curtailed at Putney Bridge station. Extended from Fulham to Hammersmith and then takes up 485 routing to Wandsworth
430 Diverted via Wandsworth Bridge and Fulham Broadway
N22 diverted as per 22
N74 follows 430 diversion
Routes 14 & 74 temporarily allocated to MW

Extended from Fulham to Hammersmith and then takes up 485 routing to Wandsworth 430 Diverted via Wandsworth Bridge and Fulham Broadway N22 diverted as per 22 N74 follows 430 diversion Routes 14 & 74 temporarily allocated to MW Doubt MW would have space for 14 and 74 and the dead mileage would be huge. Also not to mention a new bus type being introduced there (WVL/WHV).

I suspect there might be a shuttle service between Putney Heath and Putney Common (assuming the stand can cope) or else the 265 is sent there to terminate. I agree the 85 and 93 will be cut short at the Garage - assuming the side road can cope. I'm doubtful the 14 would be sent to Hammersmith or the 22 sent round via Wandsworth - that would take a load of resource for revised schedules plus crew reliefs. The scheme is going to be immensely disruptive though - the stops along Putney High St are very busy and with buses starting at Putney Station or the north side of the bridge there are going to be a lot of people facing very inconvenient journeys. I can't imagine the local shop owners are pleased at the prospect of losing so much passing trade. Of course the Paper does include the clever move of Wandsworth saying "if TfL want to run a bus service so badly then they should stump up the extra £350k cost". Nice bit of "blackmail" there - especially as Wandsworth are paying nothing towards the work. Their £150k "contribution" will come from their LIP funding from TfL!

N22 & N74 diversion 333 to MW temp 87 AL & 170 to PL temp or 19 Part Allocation to NP temp and full N19 temp. 430 no replacement as it follows the 74, just the Roehampton Section covered instead extended to Wandsworth replacing the 220 for 6 months 424 run in two sections Putney Heath to Putney High Street using 1 bus AF Fulham Craven Cottage to Putney Bridge operated from SW all 424 tickets through to the District Line
