This was not a shortage. These were extras on the 11 due to the London Underground strike back in 2010/2011 I believe.
LDPs were doing Victoria - Liverpool Street during Peak Times Also, Route 25 were also helped by EnsignBus using Dennis Tridents ALX400s & Optare Olympus's from their fleet.

Happened on routes 1, 35, 37, 40, 45, 57, 63, 64, 74, 78, 94, 127, 151, 155, 157, 185, 188, 196, 220, 280, 295, 344 and 363....to name a few over the last twenty years.
The ALX200 Darts that Connex used on the 322 had blinds for the 3 but I don't think they were ever used, similarly to SW's R reg LDPs which had 196 on them.
I think AF's Darts had blinds for the 14 and 22. Going the other way round, I know their RMLs had blinds for the then single deck C3, a route very short lived from AF as the route got sub contracted to Limebourne's incarnation of QB.

It happens on an almost daily basis on the 350! ;D The 222, H91 & U4 are others you can add to the list.

Back in the 90s the 109 had one experimental heavy duty DAF single decker, a somewhat standard floor version to an Enviro300. If I remember correctly that bus was based at TH.
I also believe the 118 once had a Dennis Dart on route during the daytime. The then BN route was for a while single deck at night so that its deckers could be used to convert the 137 OPO from the evenings.
I think the 337 had a short one under London United/Transdev.

i think single decks are ideal when the double deckers are suffering shortages.
About the Ensignbus helping Stagecoach due to tube strikes, do they have to collect fares as well?

Metrobus have done it on practically everyone one of their routes - at both C and MB. Only route I can think of that's avoided single-decks is the 54, which most single deckers at C probably aren't blinded for.
The 32 has had the occasional Enviro200 on there. Also been a few on the H91 in West London apparently. The 350 seems to have regular single deck workings despite its conversion to TAs - frankly the 112 deserves the deckers more.
Stagecoach's 61 at TB has seen a few single deckers, more so recently due to a few of the long Enviro400 being off the road.
ETB used to do it all the time with their routes - an ELS or DWL would sometimes end up on the 185 etc.

Happens with Arriva on the 160/492 a lot though equally that's not always because of decker shortage but deckers have escaped onto SD routes, mainly the 428 which incidentally had the Streetlite running on it yesterday

I remember there being occassionally single decks on the 275 around 2005.

When part of the 49 got transferred to BB (SW doing the lion's share) we were allocated seven buses, the seventh one being the spare. Very often SW would need that spare bus for their own reasons, leaving BB with no choice but to often put a DRL out with 'Blue Peter' style blinds. I remember Streetline liveried DRL54 being the first Dart on the route, as I had that bus for my second half after my spread over break.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think the 131 has had odd working single deckers in its time.

Arriva had temporarily converted the 289 to 100% double-deckers, due to another route needing to be converted to single deckers for low bridge diversion.
Also, single decks were used on part of the 343 in the Nunhead area, diversion-related I assume.

There's a pic of a Dart on the 118 at the 'londonbusesbyadam' site during the good old Cowie days

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the 131 has had odd working single deckers in its time. There was a Flickr account showing a lot of buses on single deck workings - including 131, 281 etc.
